    Hi,

I recently passed my last CPA exam and I’m now seeking employment to fulfill my experience requirements. Prior to passing the exam I’d had experience working for a financial management consulting firm for just under 2 years as well as two summer internships at a Big 4 firm. I’ve been reviewing the criteria as to what qualifies as experience for California and the AICPA website states:

“Pathway 1: 2 years Pathway 2: 1 year Both are general experience which includes any type of service or advice involving the use of accounting, attest, compilation, management advisory, financial advisory, tax or consulting skills. For those wishing to sign attest reports, the experience shall include 500 hours of attest.”

My understanding is that Pathway 2 applies to those of us passing after Jan 1, 2014. Given the nature of my past experience as a management consultant (i.e. management advisory and financial advisory), does this mean I meet the requirements?

you need to get a year experience under an active CPA, and another signature from your supervisor. My case, the controller and CFO signed it (one active/one inactive).

    AUD 2/25/14 - 82
    BEC 4/14/14 - 82
    REG 7/5/14 - 66, 80 (11/30/14)
    FAR 10/13/14 - 76
    ETHICS - PASSED
    EXPERIENCE - DONE

I also believe you only need one signature if you have a partner sign.

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!
