I just passed FAR!! Found out this morning. It was my first test ever so I was pretty pumped about it.

Now on to AUD…hopefully taking the test early-mid July. I bought the Ninja 10 pt combo and still have my Wiley materials, although I may make the decision to just use Ninja instead of Wiley. The book is much easier to read.

How have your experiences been when passing FAR vs other subjects? Obviously I’m going to put in the same effort, but is AUD any easier comparable to FAR? What about the others?

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 76
    REG - 87
    Ninja Notes/MCQ/Book/Audio for all

    FAR- 5/11/15 76!!
    AUD-10/31/15 63, 84!
    REG-7/12/16 72
    BEC-8/31/15 75!! Perfect Score!

CONGRATS! The only one that is somewhat easy in my opinion is BEC and it is NOT easy just slightly less difficult. The other exams do tend to have less material though. I hated audit both in school and for the CPA and REG is no joke. Still good job!

    Congrats on FAR!!!

AUD would be a good choice after studying FAR because you probably have a good understanding of the Transaction Cycles. Other than that, there really isn't much similarity.

I took REG after FAR because I wanted to knock out the two most difficult to ME first. Your approach could be different.

If you want to go with AUD that sounds like a great plan, just plan on dominating and you're gonna be in good shape.

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

Thanks guys! I had already done a NTS for AUD and FAR so I feel like I can knock them out first. I think REG will be my worst enemy! I hated tax in school, maybe it was my teacher though…

@Tcohle so happy to hear about your pass! I was relieved for you because I know how worried you were. 🙂 I liked that I took AUD after FAR because it did have information about the transaction cycles and some of the ratios too. It helped that I had FAR under my belt and it was still fresh. Personally studying for AUD was a much better experience than studying for FAR and now BEC (hate!) but I know everyone is different. Mind you, I'm not an auditor but I do work in a large company that has excellent internal controls and I've participated in a few audits so I'm familiar with how they work from the client's point of view so that helped. My recommendation is to read through the whole book and make lots of notes, especially from the MCQs. Use a couple of a test banks to keep yourself from memorizing questions. Also, don't underestimate the reports, even the more obscure ones that are not focused on too much. Try to go through them all and really understand them. I actually wrote out the most important reports in a table format…on the left side was the report verbatim and the right side I summarized it so I can understand the differences between each. Use the authoritative literature to know where the reports are located…you'll be grateful for this because some SIMS can be found directly out of the AL. Hope this helps. Good luck with everything! I'm sure you'll do great. 🙂

Thanks Zumo! :). That sounds like a great study plan. I don't have any Audit experience so I'm sort of starting from scratch I guess. I'll definitely take your advice!!

Oh, someone else gave some great advice just a few minutes ago that I forgot about. Roger recommends to not get lost in the details…”not seeing the forest for the trees”…look at the big picture. Make sure you know where you are in the audit process is what this means. Make sure to write out of the audit process/steps so you know when you are doing an MCQ what the question is asking and where in the audit process you are so you can answer the question because that's how they like to trip you up. This will help tremendously!
