Failed AUD 2 times.. Losing hope.

I just found out today that I scored 67 on AUD.. I scored 70 on last attempt.

First time I only used NINJA MCQs.. and this time I studied with Roger CPA review.

My REG credit will expire on 10/1, and BEC on 10/21.. So I have one attempt left on 10/1.

I passed REG and BEC pretty easily on 1st attempt. I passed FAR on 2nd attempt, but it was because I underestimated

the material.. I think REG, BEC and FAR are pretty straight forward as there are many calculation problem. English is not my first language and I think that is why I am having a problem with studying AUD. Although I trended 80+ in Ninja MCQ, I think it is higher because I memorized many questions..

So with about 2 months remaining.. how should I study for the retake? Should I re-study Roger material? Should I buy Wiley Test Bank as I memorized Ninja MCQs?

    REG 86 (4/1/2014)
    BEC 77 (4/21/2014)
    FAR 75 (4/20/2015)

What did you do for your retake? If there is anything I have learned is what past CPA exam candidates always say “You have to treat a retake as if you are starting from scracth.” I necessarily would not add more materials. If you find that you are memorizing questions, force yourself to read the question and then go through each answer and explain why its wrong or why its right. I am guilty of memorizing answers and that is one way that has helped me in studying.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

What got me from a 71 on AUD to an 84 was to copy the NINJA notes word for word, 10 pages per day. (plus hundreds of MCQ per daY) I got through it three times over in 30 days.

AUD is very memorization oriented not like the other sections where there is some problem solving thrown in. The act of handwriting is proven to help memorization.

I listened to all Roger lectures and re-did all Ninja MCQ problems with 70% avg and 80% trending. I thought I was well prepared but ended up getting a lower score..

Audit is the most perplexing exam of all IMO. I read a post here of a guy who had been getting low 70s for 3 times then on the 4th time, he didn't do a single question but read the entire textbook from cover to cover. After that he passed with an 84.

So I am not sure if doing so many questions is really the answer. Guess you really have to understanding the underlying concepts.

Having said all that, I am giving myself some break from Audit to take it in the next window. And when I'm ready, I'm going to go through the entire lecture, read the book thoroughly and do ton of questions. Good luck all.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

I just failed AUD for the 2nd time as well. I thought for sure that I had it this time. I have already started studying for BEC. REG expires Jan 31, 2016. I am not sure it is possible to pull this off without having to retake REG. And now after I took the other exams, I am starting to think me passing may have been luck….Ugh this is so frustrating. I don't know what to do. My motivation and confidence are just about gone….

@ bearsmaddy, so sorry to hear that. it really is rough having to fail one after another. Take some time off; we all go through the same thing. I failed Audit 3 times already so I'm with you. I did over 2500 MCQ's and all indication from NINJA was I was ready to pass the exam…

Remember, you CAN and you WILL pass the exam.

@ hokinizeu Thanks! I took FAR and AUD for the first time in the first testing window during busy time. This last one I thought I had though. I am scheduled for BEC at the end of August. Did you use anything other than Ninja for BEC? I need to get my confidence back and pass this one….

I am taking AUD this coming Sat after just knowing I failed FAR and BEC again. I am losing hope and start to wonder if I am even in a right profession!! I took AUD before and felt okay about it and turned out I had the worst score ever compare to other sections I felt worst in.

I feel I am more prepared this time but I am losing confidence in myself.

I am using Becker (which I start to think it is not for me) and going to write out Ninja note….

Anyone has any suggestion on what other materials you use to get your pass after you fail like many times?!

    Thanks

You seem like a hard worker so I assume you memorized all the different types of auditors reports. Stuff you need to understand and not just memorize in my opinion are the financial statement assertions (cover u) for each transaction cycle and segregation of duty (arc). Also, spending a full day or two on using AI will be worth 2 to 4 sims imo.

    @mla11692

Just to clarify, you re-wrote the NINJA notes three times?

    BEC - 75 lost credit, Jan/Feb 2016
    REG - 76 lost credit, July/Aug 2016
AUD - 67, next test date TBD
    FAR - 78, lost credit, October 1, 2015

I did. It was my final exam to pass and I kept reading you should rewrite your notes. I never took notes so I rewrote Jeffs, word for word, 3 times over. Total drag to do it, but better than studying for a 4th attempt at AUD.

The gold standard in my opinion is to work as many MCQs as possible. Using NINJA MCQ makes it simple because you get questions that you struggle with, so you are learning what you need to learn. It's a real focused approach.

Many would argue that after awhile you just start memorizing the question, but that isn't a bad thing in my opinion. If I've memorized why the awesome is B on a certain question to me that's the same as learning it.

Study strategy for me, especially the two weeks leading up to the exam was: MCQs, MCQs, difficult MCQs, MCQs, and repeat. Set a goal, 200 questions a day, and stick to it. You'll learn the material in no time.

This approach worked best for Audit. Good Luck!

@okcpa2015 – You have such a high scores on all sections! What did you use to study? 98 on AUD? OMG!

    #687324

@zerosky Don't lose hope! I failed AUD twice as well and finally passed. Have you tried listening to NINJA Audio? That really helps drive home some topics that may help you gain those few points. Another thing that helped was making sure I conceptually understood the SIM examples. A lot of people say AUD is memorization, but it is a lot of conceptual understanding as well. You can do it!

    FAR - 63, 66, 59, 76
    BEC - 76
    REG - 77
    AUD - 63, 66, 82

@octobergirlie – how was your latest audit experience? lots of FAR sims? what brought your score up 16 points? i am averaging around 75 on MCQs and for SIMs pick a number. i don't put a lot of weight on the trending bc i've seen the Qs already. i guess if i took FAR first i would do better in Audit.

    AUD - 78 (3x)
