i already have everything but the audio. i may get just that this time, or try another provider. i used becker my 1st time around. I want to take it again in like a month or less … Yaeger Cram session looks good. i really don't know. 1st time: Becker everything, 2nd: NINJA Notes & becker MCQs, 3rd: NINJA notes & WileyTestBank MCQs. I also have NINJA flashcards & Becker flashcards, but havent really used either.

if you are failing bc of the Sim portion, try getting cpareviewforfree Sims. They are 10 bucks and pretty good quality sims.

@homerun07 – don't get discouraged… I've worked in Auditing, public and private, for over 6 years now and was floored and embarrassed when I failed Audit my first time around with a 70. To date it is still my lowest score. I read every chapter on my own and reworked every MC question and simulation and my score jumped to an 89 the 2nd time around! Floored again, but for good reasons! 🙂 I literally think passing and failing is sometimes a matter of luck and who else is taking the section with you… my knowledge of Auditing did not drastically change from August to October 2012 and yet my score jumped 19 points without my even changing my study tactics… hang in there and you'll pass next time.

    REG - 72 (Oct 2011), 74 (May 2012), 80 (July 2012)
    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    AUD - 70 (Aug 2012), 89! (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 71 (Dec 2012), 75!(Feb 2013)

Get the Wiley Test Bank. I used Beckers too and it was not the reason I passed. I used Ninja Audio at the gym, Ninja Flashcards at lunch (work) and the last two weeks I just took final exams with Wiley Test Bank. It tells you what areas to study. So here is what I did. It requires some work but it worked for me. I reviewed every test I found 50% where careless and obvious answered I failed to notice. The other 50% I made a flash card for each wrong answer and reviewed the next day at work (lunch). I also went back to the quizzes and homework on Wiley for those areas I was weak on . Wiley gives you a great breakdown after each exam. In two weeks time I maintained a routine of reinforcement and long term memory for concepts I already knew. This increased my scores across the board and taking a final everyday and twice on days off really exposed me to Simulations. Wiley was dead on with the multiple choice and 80% of the sims. All I needed to do was show up.

I know it is hard with work, but you have an advantage with Audit knowledge already. Hang in there and invest in Wiley.

One more thing. Be realistic with your time. Take the extra month to study if it means being successful at it. I spent the extra $35 and pushed audit back 10 days ( Dec 8 ) and it made all the difference. I am going to push back FAR too. Rather take it once and prepared then twice and praying.

    Good luck

    Fred

thanks for your advice!! yea i am really thinking of investing in the 10 point combo but i'm not sure yet– could you explain a little more of what each of them are?

the wiley test bank-is it just a whole bunch of practice exams?

approximately how many many exams are there?

ninja notes- is it like a text book?

ninja audio- are these lectures?? (similar to becker lectures?)

    thank you!

It took me three times to pass Audit (66, 74, 89) and I will say the magic key for me was repetition. By the time I got around to the 3rd test nearly all the questions and simulations were familiar to me as if I had seen them before. In my opinion, if you practice them long enough that will be sufficient.

I used Becker but did not pass…was averaging upper 70s to upper 80s for the passmasters. I also used the final review and did all the simulations, however, my AICPA score was disappointing. Surprisingly, I didn't feel bad for failing. I believe it's because this journey helps me with my relationship with the Lord.

My Becker software license expired so I purchased the Wiley online test bank. Hopefully, that will help. I don't think I want to spend over $500 (which is 50% off the actual price) on one software license. I have to retake REG in 2/2013 too. At least I have the Becker books and Wiley books for both AUD and REG. I can use those still.

I used the 10 point pack which I think really helped improve my grade. However learning how to use the authoritative literature saved me on the sims. I was able to find the answers for two full sims word for word in the AL. In the study group for AUD a lot of people give tips on how to do this. For me for each sim I spent 10 minutes searching in the AL and for 2 sims I found the answers word for word! I had two research sims, and five other sims so for 4 sims in total I got my answers from AL.

My goal was to have 2 hours for the sims, I had about an hour and 50 minutes and I finished with 20 minutes to spare.

    Good luck!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

i have yet to receive my score report to see how i did.. i really felt like i did well on the MCQ…but didn't feel that great about the sims.. i might be completely wrong..

but yea i did a lot of repetition. did all the progress tests after every chapter (becker) and always scored 85-90% on them.. however towards the end i was starting to memorize them…

did pretty good on the final practice exams and felt pretty confident about the exam and also felt pretty good about it afterwards (minus the sims)

i knew audit was a weak topic for me so i studied extra hard for it– writing down hand written notes ( i never did that for any other cpa exam) and never did progress tests for the other exams either (except for my FAR retake)

so yea.. i don't know. felt like i gave it my all
