    NINJA Question –

The first three attempts at AUD I used the Wiley books and Ninja notes and I was able to get a 62, 68, 70. The time I used the Wiley 2014, Ninja notes, and I bought the Ninja mcq to get help get me over. Here are my stats from the reports:

    Average: 73%

    Trending: 77.67%

Also, treading was in the low 80s before I took the practice test. I got a 65.

I don’t know what I can do differently at this point. Is it time to give up?

Maybe you are memorizing answers rather than really understanding the concepts? Something I did was read through the various main reports several times to help give the big picture. I attempted to memorize them (through song), which did not go very well (because they are so long), but I think the attempt did help. The audit/review/etc. concepts really follow what is in the reports.

You didn't mention anything about sims– how you prepared for them, how you felt you did on them, etc. Weighted at 40%, those can make a big difference in your score. Maybe try studying for FAR first so that you get the JE practice in, as that can really help with AUD sims.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I don't know, I kept getting questions I haven't seen before I was getting them right. I'd also read every explanation. For the sims I went through all of them at least once and did the ones I did bad on a couple more times. I read sample reports a bunch of times too.

It's just so weird that my score went down so much with new material.

Here's what my practice exam showed:

    1 Objective Question 30 63%

    2 Objective Question 30 86%

    3 Objective Question 30 80%

    4 Simulation 1 70%

    5 Simulation 1 66%

    6 Simulation 1 100%

    7 Simulation 1 80%

    8 Simulation 1 100%

    9 Simulation 1 50%

    10 Simulation 1 80%

    Session Score: 76%

    Total Time: 1:41:06

And that first testlet should actually be higher because it turns out a few questions got graded wrong because I clicked the submit to fast and it passed through them so they weren't even answered.

How many hours did you put in on AUD? Perhaps you need to focus on one exam until you pass, and then move to the next one.

    AUD - 90
    FAR - 71, 76
    REG - 75
    BEC - 76 (bubble sucks)

You got a 15% in FAR? Ya I would probably give up.

@vern Ninja says I have 77 hours but when I was first going through it I would take breaks and not bothered to get out of the quiz so it's probably more like 55-60 on just the Ninja stuff. I also read through my Wiley 2014 book and did the mcqs in that too so that might have brought the hours to 70+ anyways. I was scoring in the 80s on that too. AUD is the only exam I've been working on.

@agile321 I didn't study for FAR, at all. I had stuff going and there was no way I be able to get through the material so focused on BEC instead.

    Sorry to hear this!

I went in and looked at your stats.

There are 6 categories for AUD.

    You were averaging low 70s in 3 categories … a 75 on 2 of them and a 78 on 1

Your Trending was a 77, but I tell people to get the Trending up to mid-80s to be in the safe zone.

You were Trending a 71 in one category and mid-70s in 3 categories.

I would re-work the MCQ and get your Trending into the mid-80s.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

@Jeff I was trending 81-83% before the sample exam. And the fact that I did worse on my last attempt (65) using Ninja compared to the two attempts (68,70) before without it doesn't really help.

I not knocking your product but there's some bigger problems going on here.

The first time I incorporated Ninja MCQ my trending score was in the low 70s. I didn't get through all questions. I set Jeff and email and he told me to get my score up and I didn't listen. My score was 66. I also had a tendency of just picking the right answer because I knew it from seeing it before to get my score up. This last go around I listened to Jeff. I kept my trending score close to 80 and I got a 73. The reason being I had 2 far related sims that were hard. I also did not get a chance to go through all the ninja MCQs or sims. This go around I am rewriting my ninja notes an forking through every question and sim at least 3 times. After almost a year of fighting and not want to follow the ninja way I have finally realized that Jeff and some of the people on this forum know what they are talking about.

Sometimes we have to looks past the materials and actually look at how we studied. I probably studied hard my last 2 weeks. The other weeks I studied maybe 2 nights each week and watched TV. I have used every review out there and to be honest unless I put in the work those multiple review systems don't mean anything.

Good luck! We will beat audit in 2015.

@rugger I don't know man. There was so much I did differently this time around that I didn't do on the others. I read the Ninja notes more times than the other two, read my own self written notes more times, literally doubled them based of the mcqs I had trouble with on Ninja, read the sample reports. It's one thing if I had gotten in the 70s and got what I felt was a bad test. But neither of those are there. Good luck on next attempt.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Not sure if you did, but don't rely solely on the “adaptive learning”. Try to primarily rely on testing with “new questions” & “questions I got wrong last time”. The adaptive learning has a way or repeating the same questions over and over. But, it is good way to sprinkle in a testlets that are weighted towards your weaker areas.

Also, I strongly suggest Wiley's Focus Notes. NINJA Notes are great for a final cram review in the weeks leading up to the exam. Wiley's Focus Notes for AUD are clear & concise. More expensive, but so detailed I used it instead of reading my Wiley textbook for a few chapters.

And don't give up. Never give up. The CPA exam is not an IQ test. If you put in quality hours, you'll beat this thing!

I didn't quite get to the review stage but I did every unique question more than once. I spent a good 300-400 questions focusing on just trouble questions. I would love to buy more study material but I can't afford any to be honest. I had to borrow to pay for the fees for my last two tests and I was barely able to afford the Ninja mcqs. So yeah, at this point I don't even know if I'll be able to get any more support for this anyways.

I feel like I should add I spent longer taking this test as well. It took my 3 full hours compared to 2.5 on the last two. I even bothered to double check every single answer which I never do.

Maybe now isn't the time. I never really paid attention in college, so taking the CPA was like learning from scratch for me. I couldn't have done it without buying additional material to help me learn. Also, buying last year's textbooks from Amazon helped me cut WAAAAY down on cost.

Good luck on deciding if this is for you!

Whatever you choose good luck. I personally refuse to give up because the benefits far outweigh the sacrifice today. I want to be in Finance and I want this CPA. It's my dream.

I have yet to pass a test but I know that time will come. I graduated in 2012 so it's a lot of fresh stuff I forgot. It's not easy for me. Are you being honest with yourself? Have you really done all you can do to prepare yourself? I know I haven't, that's why I have a 57 and a 70. I have to be honest with myself. I can study more. I can work more MCQ's. I purchased NINJA notes to help supplement for AUD. I might look into the audio for at the gym and my commute.

Again good luck on whatever you choose. If you want to be a CPA and that's your dream and long term goal, don't give up. This site has so many people who didn't give up and achieved the goal. I seen in a topic where someone took an exam 13 times!! They never gave up, and that person passed.

If it's important to you, keep fighting.

It's just weird that I changed my habits so much for this and ended up doing worse. That's what bothers me the most. I really do want to keep going and get this but I have no way to pay for it and I'm not sure how my current source is going to feel about this lol. Anyways I appreciate the feedback. Hopefully I figure something out.
