Found out today that I didn’t pass BEC with a 73. I am going to squeeze in my retake during mid-January. Any advice?

For my original test I studied with Becker and the Ninja Notes, Audio, & MCQ. I know that my weaker areas are cost accounting, finance, and IT so I plan on concentrating on those.

For my retake of BEC, I went through all of the MCQs again (two or three times for my weak areas). I also purchased a new test bank (WTB) and went through all of those MCQs. Then I focused on the areas I feared the most (cost accounting and IT) by reading the text and creating flash cards for all the formulas. I went through the flash cards daily during my lunch breaks. That did it for me.

    IL Candidate

    AUD - 98 (11/11/13)
    BEC - 69 (4/19/14); 83 (7/21/14)
    FAR - 88 (11/26/14)
    REG - 90 (2/26/15)

    Ethics - 98 (3/9/15)

Using the CPAexcel review course and Wiley Test Bank.

Thanks šŸ™‚ I'm hoping that if I really drill down on my weak areas and review what I'm comfortable with, that it will be enough

    Hi to all and Ruguy22,

My weakest areas were IT, Corporate Governance, and Operations Management, stronger areas are Economics Concepts and Financial Management. I put lots of times ans effort into it and still failed with a 72. I passed it on my first try 77 back in 2008. So what were your methods of tacking the weakest areas? I just bought CPAExel yesterday so I'm going to focus on it as well as Becker materials. Should I just focus on MCQS? Should I rewatch lectures? Ect.. Please help. Thanks so much.

when i passed BEC, i noticed my questions were getting difficult because i had to apply certain formulas explained in beckers towards questions that looked foreign. i know that doesnt make sense but thats how it appeared to me. IT is important. MCQ is 80% get Ninja or any other available and relevant BEC MCQS you can. thats it.

I scored “stronger” on written communication. I basically just watched Becker's video about it and reread the pages in the Becker book about it the night before the exam. I made sure that my intro was 1-2 sentences on what the memo was going to be about. Then I did 3 mini paragraphs of 3-4 sentences followed by a conclusion of 1-2 sentences. It is really important to pull information from what they are giving you in the task and include it in what you are writing. Hopefully that helps.
