I don't think you should give up. Is this your first test? If you look at some of the candidate's scores, a score in the 60s is not that uncommon. However, these candidates had the will to continue and eventually passed all four exams, with some almost done. These candidates help motivate me and other candidates who fail a section (probably more than they realize). Also, for me, having faith in God and Jesus helps me. At least, give it another try, and put your whole heart into it and pray. I don't want to tell you what to do – just what I think, since you asked.

It's a tough journey. Good luck.

I think so much of it is the luck of the draw – which test you get on testing day. Look at it this way, you have so much time and money invested in the process you might as well continue. One day you (and hopefully I) will get a test that matches our knowledge.

    Stay strong!

It seriously makes me crazy when people say the test is the luck of the draw. Seriously, here is an idea. Know and understand the material in a way that allows you to pass the exam no matter what test you are given. Instead of hoping to get a test that matches your knowledge, how about you match your knowledge to the test you are given. Its pretty simple. Luck has nothing to do with it.

I have to agree w/ Mini on this one. Take every single topic seriously and study, study, study. I think that saved my butt since I got questions that were very, very, specific, but I knew them…..I wish u the best bro!

My first test will be in April and I am working hard to know as much as possible. Lots of posters talked about feeling confident in the material and then being swept off their feet by crazy questions and others say it was surprisingly easy. I want the luck that makes my test an easier one because I know those topics really well. That is what i mean by luck, not that I didn't prepare but that the test happens to be in my stronger areas. Of course, if I have to take the test over and over I will be stronger in more areas!

It's true we need to know the material, and also true that sometimes we get luckier than others.

@ledger – Given that you havent taken any exams, I will give you a pass. I'm not sure how you can say you think the exam is luck since you have no experience whatsoever. Also, if you are truly prepared and you get a “bad draw” then you get a 75-82 instead of an 83+. Passing has nothing to do with luck.

@mini – thanks for the pass! People have such a varied experience on these boards and reading them for the last few months the exam is verly like that anology of blind people describing an elephant. I am working very hard to know as much as possible, and inpsired by the folks here.

@nolifecpa What did you do differently to pass the 13th time?

I have taken three exams and failed. I have to take AUD in the beginning of May (NTS is expiring). I feel like I am going to throw in the towel if I don't pass AUD. I'm not sure if I am saying this because I am bummed…I am not sure if I am not smart enough for this exam or if I am not studying correctly?

Haha, I've never heard the saying, “Blind people describing an elephant.” Had to google it:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_men_and_an_elephant

Anywho – Yes, there is a lot of blind leading the blind on this site. That being said, there are also a lot of people who give great advise and know what they are doing. You just have to try to weed out the good from the bad advice.

    @Purple orchid

i did a lot of things differently, first i switched review courses from becker to yaeger. becker just wasn't for me but i still sometimes used the software to practice mcq and took the 2 final exams. i also started taking crazy notes and typed them up in ms word, then i rewrote them by hand. another thing i did was to take 1 exam per window instead of trying to squeeze in 2.

you are def smart enough to pass, just not studying correctly. the key is to find out what works best for you. i was never a good student so i never found out during school how i learned best and its taken me a very long time experimenting through trial and error, and i still don't think i got it down (been testing since 2006).

    never give up!

Keep your head up. You can see by my FAR score I'm in the same predicament as you. It broke my heart. Luckily there are lots of supportive people who have been in our positions before and are now done or almost done. The point is no matter what, all of them and us too are going to be done if we keep trying. There's no looking back.

Turn your anger against the exam and study like you are getting back up from a fight, and come back at it with a vengeance. There's no KO until you quit.
