Failed FAR – Lacking motivation

I’ve passed two sections already, one in April and one in May. I failed FAR (I was in the 70’s) and I was devastated for a week or so. I’ve decided to trudge forward with a different section, but I still feel like all is lost. I just started at a public firm, I feel like I’ll never have any time to study, and I’ve lost my opportunity to pass this thing. I know that’s not the case, I still have a full year to pass two more sections, but man do I feel down about this whole thing. Seeing new hires that have passed the exam has me even more upset.

Is there anyone out there who can provide some guidance/help/words of encouragement? I’m using Becker, I get through the lectures but the multiple choice seem to take me a while (3 days or so when I do questions from 6:00-9:30 before getting burned out). Am I doing the right thing by moving on to another section before going back to FAR?

I think that you are just feeling overwhelmed at the moment… You just have to realize that this is just going to happened by being disciplined and creating a very strict schedule and applying it. About the new hires tha passed the exam; good for them. F'em as well! This only will be accomplished if you put your mind and your study to it!

I am not the best example to follow at the moment because I am in a “don't want to study” mood/mode! But this, as you already know is about discipline and commitment!

So keep it up and work it to finish it!

@jokami: If we exclude people who are in a “don't want to study” mode, then NO ONE would be allowed to post here!! Especially me! Thats the main reason I come to this site.

I officially declare another71.com as the absolute worst thing to happen to me since I started studying for this darn thing.

haha, with that said, I agree. Tothe OP: Clearly you know you can pass and are just blowing off steam. Let it out, then bottle it back in, and then get back to studying.

Don't be mad at your co-workers that passed because before you know it you'll have passed all of your exams within your 1st year anniversary, and there will be plenty of people jelous of you. Remember, the people who are failing sections and/or are waaay behind (you aren't!) are not speaking up. I'm sure that you are ahead and/or equal with most of your starting class.

It is not impossible…I have been working at an audit firm for a few years now, and I started this thing @ the beginning of our busy season…I have been working 50-60 every week…I am married and have other responsibilities…If you keep trying and stay disciplined then you can still do it…I failed FAR the first time but then passed it the next time while working like a dog…I am not saying it will be easy, but it is possible….
