Congratulations to all who passed! I got a 72 in AUD using Becker. I put all effort – listen to the audio, read the book, did mcq and sims by chapters. In the last 3 weeks I again read the book, did the mcq and sims. I did not try to memorize the mcq and sims but tried to understand the concepts.

When taking the exam I realized that I am not so familiar with all the mcqs and I had to use best judgment.

What should I do different next time? I am not giving up but I am feeling helpless. Please help me.

My biggest piece of advice with the MCQ. When you are answering the questions, note why the correct answer is, in fact, correct and why the incorrect answers are wrong.

Audit, in paticular, has a lot of questions where it seems like you are picking the “betterest” answer from the batch so you need to focus on that answer and understand why it's the correct one and the other's are not.

It's also worth noting that a single word will completely change the answer (in paticular pay attention to things like issuer vs. non-issuer and what type of engagement is being done). Those things will affect why one answer is correct and the others are not.

Finally, Audit is notorious for using language tricks to steer you in the wrong direction. Make sure you fully understand what the question is asking before comitting to an answer.

    Hope that helps.

I had lots of trouble getting past AUD and I watched the Becker videos enough that I could almost talk along with them. Here is the best advice I can give. I went to a live final review class in Dallas on North Central Expressway. The class is held on Saturday and goes from 8am to close to midnight. It is long and grueling. BUT IT IS WORTH EVERY MINUTE. The instructor used to have her own review class until Becker bought her out but she still gives you all the information from Becker and her personal review course. I drove 6 hours one way to get to it. There were people that flew in from as far as DC just for this class. If you attend the entire thing AND follow her instructions you will pass. I went from a 68 to an 83!

She does these reviews for every section except REG. I went to all of them!

    FAR – 71, 75

    REG – 75

    BEC – 71, 81

    AUD – 56, 65, 70, 68, 83

Try some Ninja products. I used the 10 point combo for AUD (nothing else) but mostly used the audio and MCQ/Sims. Do the MCQs and sims and read the explanations every time. Take notes for trouble questions/topics. Use flashcards (Ninja or self-made) consisting of the topics that are giving you the most trouble. That's what worked for me.

GET NINJA MCQs! I failed AUD 4 times using Becker. And I had a passing score the first time for all other exams. I don't think Becker gives you enough material and we all don't have money to pay for the in person becker class. I finally gave in and realized my approach with Becker wasn't working and used NINJA and I jumped 18 points when I couldn't get higher than a 71. I absolutely know that NINJA made the difference. If I had failed again, I would have lost my credits and I am now willing to shout from the roof tops to let people know how great these products are. If I only would have believed in them sooner, I would have probably saved around $800 of testing! Good luck!

make notes also make sure you understand the concepts

I think @Angelwatch made great points to definitely keep in mind during AUD:

1)“Note why the correct answer is, in fact, correct and why the incorrect answers are wrong.”

2)“It's also worth noting that a single word will completely change the answer”

3)“Audit is notorious for using language tricks to steer you in the wrong direction”

It’s good that you were working to understand the concepts rather than just working through the questions. Keep working hard and it will happen. If you’re looking for a supplement for Becker, I’d suggest using the NINJA MQCs; I used them for my final FAR pass and helped me go from a 74, 72, 72, to an 86; keep in mind I tried to maintain a consistent study schedule, and study whenever I had a few extra minutes.

I will shout right a long with you if I pass AUD in Q1 2015. I didn't know about Ninja products. I failed so many of these tests so many times. I used gleim got a 75 on aud it expired then got a 69 and a 72. I now have two tests that expire after Q1 2015. It's now or never for me. I'm using Ninja MCQ + SIMS and notes to get to the right side of 75. If I don't do it now I'm done. So Here's hoping Ninja works!

I also made a 72 the first time I took AUD. The second time I stuck with Becker, but didn't redo lectures. Instead I read the text cover to cover and made my own note cards using the quizlet app. I studied these cards constantly. I redid all mcq's and spent a lot more time on the sims. Every time I missed something I created a notecard for it, then studied these cards every chance I could. I also wrote out each report multiple times. Second time I took AUD I made a 91.

@wareagle. The infor is on the Becker website. Look under final review and pick the live format. Or you can call Becker to register. I believe the cost is $165.00. It will be a very long day but if you follow her post class instructions and test within a week of taking the class you will be surprised by the results.

Becker has some really good charts over the differences between compilation, review, audit over the different types of engagements and whether it's a public or non public entity. Make sure you memorize that really well. Then go back over the MC and really understand each question and get a score of at least 93% on progress tests. I feel like taking FAR is like a prerequisite for Audit. A lot of questions, especially the simulations require pretty in depth knowledge over FAR. Know how to navigate the research tab. Becker lacks in this area because in the review, they don't give you the full AICPA professional standards. Most of the time you can find the answers to your simulations word for word in the research tab. Sometimes it's not what you know. You gotta employ a lot of test taking strategies to do well on these exams.
