So, I just started studying for FAR, and I’m taking it 2/10/12. I’m using the Wiley Book and am currently at Module 11. Does anyone else feel like there is more information than we can ever possibly remember in this section?

    FAR 2.10.12 (Yaegar)
    BEC 2.29.12 (Yaegar)
    REG 4.21.12 (Yaegar)
    AUD 5.30.12 (Yaegar)
Celebrating the successful completion of the CPA Exam and my birthday 5.31.12

@Mike, this test is famous for way too much information. I also am studying it and started months ago and still am only halfway through, so now am working harder. I study with the Yeager videos and they use the Wiley book but don't cover every little thing, only focus on what they think will be mostly tested. Just doing the Wiley book is harder. Be sure it is the 2011 book and get the updates from the Wiley site because module 9 concepts are newer for the test, 10 and 11 not so much.

    Hang in there!

Mike – are you just using the Wiley book and no review course? I used Yaeger for FAR – they skip over tons of info in the Wiley book.

@ledger How do you get just the 2012 updates to the Wiley book? I didn't know there was such an option, I though it required buying a new 2012 book.

    FAR - 87 (May 2012)(Skipped 1st window)

@ Jennifer – Maybe some others on here would divulge that info, but I never would.

    Hey Guys,

I'm using the Yaegar too. I wouldn't know where to begin without it. But my plan is to just watch all the lectures within the next 10 days and then just do MC and Sims after that. When I have 10 days left, I plan on using the CRAM. The review is VERY helpful. Its basically is teaching me everything from accounting 1 – 5 (advanced accounting). I'm just concerned that there is way too much info, I'm not that good at accounting to start with, only had a 3.1 Gpa in accounting 🙁

You can never tell what you'll be tested on so you need to study all the chapters. I've sat for FAR three times now and every time different concepts have been tested more heavily than others….I'm sitting yet again on the 26th and if I pass I'm DONE!

Just to clarify a previous comment of mine based on what Sherrid said – Yaeger doesn't skip any modules completely. They just tell you what to focus on in each chapter and skip over a lot of material within the chapter. On some topics, they also condense several pages of the Wiley book into a nice 1 or 2 page handout.

I was still overwhelmed with all of the material that was left to study after Yaeger broke it down for me. I just can't imagine studying straight from the Wiley book with no guidance! You guys are brave!

I used Yaeger for FAR and studied for about 3.5 months. I would give yourself plenty of study time if possible. I found this to be the hardest test (of the 3 that I have taken) as far as time management. You really need to know the material well enough to progress thru the exam at a good pace. Make sure to leave ample time for the SIMS as they account for 40% of the total. Good luck.

I am studying for FAR for the 3rd time! BEC expires in April! I'm having major anxiety about this exam…the last 18 months of work then study were OK for about the first 12 months but I'm seriously over it now! Anyone have some words they'd like to share to help inspire me? For reals though, PLEEEAASSSEEEEE????

@Kr557 – here is the link to Wiley, anyone can get the updates. https://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/Section/id-321110.html

It covers basic concepts, financial statements, fixed assets and governmental accoutning and is a 10 page handout.

@prcpadiva – what review course are you using? If its Yaeger, stick to the MCQs and material the lectures cover and once you get through them the first time, give yourself a week to go back over all the highlighted material and MCQs one additional time. I found most of the FAR material to be fairly straightforward, there is just a ton of it. I found the actual exam questions to be pretty simple but you have to be prepared.
