@pamdo – it took me the entire day to finish 20 questions. I seriously think i will not be passing this exam at all! I hope everyone was more focused and got their studying done as they planned.

You know what I did was start to get up 1.5 hours early…and sometimes that meant 4:00 or 4:30 am so that I use my freshest and least exhausted hours for studying. Sure I was wiped out by 8pm but it seem to work better than trying to study at 8 or 9 at night after a full day.

FAR was tough…I was so discouraged at first…barely finished the last two sections….don't ask me how but I passed….so glad I never have to deal with that again….REG is next 🙁

My exam is next week and I'm really starting to panic – there is just so much information and I cannot stay focused anymore 🙁 What have other people done to review in the week before the exam? Keep redoing MCQs & SIMS, review the text or NINJA notes? I keep changing from one thing to the next and feel like I'm wasting time because of that, but am really concerned about how much material there is. Help!

I'm in the same boat taking FAR oct 1! Started to freak out today when I made a list of everything I want to get done. I'm using becker and ninja notes. My final review GOAL is to do becker final exams, a few progress tests, and really nail my trouble areas. I want to make sure I practice journal entries because I am weaker with them. I also want to make sure I understand what I think are the most probably sim topics like cash flow, consolidations, bonds, leases. I took a lot of notes on those topics so I am going to keep re-reading them. If I have time I want to look over my ninja notes too. I may skim my book and look for things I flagged as important. Just use your final review to wrap up loose ends which to me means lots of MCQ and notes. I was thinking of possibly looking over becker SIMS but I feel like that may be a waste of valuable time, thoughts anyone?

i am losing motivation too. i just found out i am 50% done (i passed REG!) which you think would be a huge study boost, but… not really. i am actually really scared about FAR the most because i am in tax. but… i am trying to stay positive because i think its a huge mind game too. you have to be careful not to sych yourself out – i can do this! but i probably have to study more than i have been lately…

I didn't end up working any of the Becker simulations, so I'm not too sure how they are compared to the actual test. I pretty much went through the Becker book and flagged all pages with one of those boxy example problems / pages with JEs or calculations. Similar to what you did, I went through and grouped them into what I thought could be potential simulations. You'll find out that there aren't too many possibilities. I then rewrote those problems and made sure I could re-calculate, re-write the JEs if I had to come up with them from scratch. It's easy when you're looking at the JEs in the book to think..oh that makes sense…but when you're given a blank page, it might be harder to recreate. That's why I'd recommend re-writing those…multiple times if you have to…draw t-accounts…anything that will help you master how transactions flow. Best of luck!

@happen – good luck with your goal! I changed my study strategy around for this section compared to my last two exams (b/c I thought I failed REG) and am regretting it now. I watched all the lectures first, then went back to review the chapters, (was taking notes, but felt it was too time consuming) and doing the practice questions. I've been doing practice questions for over 2 weeks and it's taking a lot more time to get through than I expected. I'm contemplating using the “quiz” review feature in Becker instead of doing all the MCQ's in each section – it's not my favorite choice, but figured it will be the fastest way to get through MCQ's for all sections and then I can focus on my problem areas.

@kaa – I just found out I passed REG this week and am now half way done too. I expected that to give me a lot more motivation for FAR, but it's just not there.

@CPAbear – I like your suggestion of re-writing the JE's from scratch rather than just copying – thanks for the tip!

You all will get a kick out of this. I went to study at starbucks and of course sitting next to me is someone else studying for FAR!!! I'm in nyc so I thought those were pretty funny olds of encountering another FAR tormented candidate. haha It really got me thinking if the AICPA and starbucks are in cahoots.

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you guys it seems. I just passed REG and have been studying FAR for a while now and keep wanting to do anything else in the world but study. I guess Tim Gearty was right about something.

THANK GOD for NINJA notes!!! I reviewed Becker again for F5 on Bonds and was still doing horribly on the practice questions. I was getting so frustrated at the amount of time it was taking to get through the questions and that I wasn't improving at all. So I opened up the NINJA notes and re-wrote them. Took all 44 practice questions again and ended up with 90%. Now, if only I can do that for everything else…. 🙁

@momof4 – you know i agree with that too… i use to be able to do that schedule when i started to study for AUD and REG. But that Becker 6-month schedule i feel is only for individuals that are recent graduates from college. Now even if i'm up at 4 am, i won't be able focus until 7 am. FAR is really dreading for me. I'm still on F5. I still need to finish all the practice questions for F6,7,8 & 9. Someone asked me if I learned the CAsh Flow Statement…I have no idea how to even do one! Do NINJA notes really help? I'm new with this site, If anyone can give me any kind of advise to get caught up before the exam date..I'd really appreciate it.
