Hi All,

This is my first post, I’m new to this grueling study experience. The only reason I say grueling is because of the significant struggles I’m having with FAR material. I’m using Becker self-study. By the end of lectures I feel good about it, then I get killed on the homework.

Anybody with experience venture to say that the homework for becker is actually more challenging than the exam?

I've heard some say Becker is in line with the hard testlets of the exam. Which is a good thing. CPA Excel is generally not as difficult. I would also like to point out that a 75 is a scaled score and you can miss quite a few and still pass. Just make sure you get through all of your material.

thanks! that's encouraging. so if I'm getting 40-50's on becker's homework that's not necessarily accurate to how the exam would be scored? it'd be nice to have a loose measure of the scale lol

Keep going through homework until you get to 100%…I never got 100% on my first try, but I just kept moving through it. You'll be able to gauge better once you get farther along. For instance, people say add 10 points to your Becker final test as a general rule.

The amount of calculation questions varies from test to test, it also depends on how well you did on the first testlet. The first one is always a medium difficulty. If you do really well, then the next testlet is a hard one. If you do well on that the last one is hard otherwise it will go back to medium.

@shanek when you study for FAR, any calculation you make you need to be able to rationalize a journal entry behind it. No Journal Entry knowledge=No pass. Also make sure you take notes while doing multiple choice on this that you don't understand very well.
