FAR Hangover

I hated FAR. Absolutely detested it. As an example of how bad, I had no idea how to complete journal entries when I first started and studied intermediate accounting for dummies for a few days before my official FAR studying began. I killed myself studying for this test and really thought it was going to drive me insane.

I took FAR back in October and passed, but I still feel so, so horrible about that test. It still makes me want to cry when I think about it. Has anyone else ever felt this way 3 months after taking an exam. I just don’t know how to move past it. Right after FAR, I had to study for REG, so I couldn’t dwell on my FAR experience right away, but now……

I've been studying FAR since I took (& failed REG with a 73) in October. I haven't given myself a break since and have considered quitting this entire process in the midst of this difficult material. I look back at REG thinking that I will beat it next time but don't resent it like you resent FAR. Maybe the difference is that you passed it. That has to give you some satisfaction. Keep up the good work.

I hate far just as much as you do! Took REG “lightly” because i thought it was “easier” and failed with a 68. I still hate FAR though. I almost passed out before leaving my house to go take my FAR exam. I was seriously having a nervous breakdown, couldn't eat, wanted to throw up, was shaking…literally. Then i left and did ok on the exam… 🙂 THANK GOD!!! Definitely study those JEs!!! That was super important and part of the reason i failed my AUD also, didn't study far before aud, bunch of JEs on my test.

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

I actually really like FAR and find it satisfying to learn all the technical steps of preparing financial statements. It's like a big puzzle that I'm trying to solve. I've found most of it is very logical and learnable for the most part, except a lot of the framework stuff that you just kind of have to memorize.

Weekends are meaningless to a CPA candidate
