Stupid… I know. But I just finished working on BEC, AUD, and REG and am planning to take FAR in October between my wedding and my honeymoon. I just took BEC yesterday and with the extended testing window I figured just showing up to FAR would give me an advantage for next quarter even if the questions were totally different – for example, if I had known what the REG test was going to look like I think I would have prepared differently. SO long story short, I scheduled a test date for FAR next Thursday, which basically gives me the long 3 day weekend to prepare (using Becker). Worst case I get a couple of chapters out of the way and fail. If you had only three days, ~25 hours, to study for FAR, what topics would you focus on? I realize this is a crazy, dumb plan but hey…. you never know.

A little crazy I will agree. But I sitting tomorrow for the second time. I didn't spend a lot of time on journal entries the first go around and needless to say, it showed. If you took Governmental and were confident in the class, I wouldn't waste a ton of time on it. I am a write and learn kinda person, I made myself a “study guide” of pass key info and formulas I am having a hard time remembering and I am rewriting it over and over again, it's helped a ton. Also I would take as many progress test as you can with 30 MCQs. Anyways, good luck! 🙂

If you can order the Becker final review. That is all I did for BEC and Audit and was fine. I've learned the stuff before in classes so it's more of a high level overview to jog your memory.

So, I was going to suggest the videos Jeff just added to NINJA but that's 27 hours.

Why not just postpone till October? I know you mentioned you want it as a practice test, but really every test is different and I don't know if it's worth it.

Did you just graduate school or have a lot of GL accounting? That would help I think, but otherwise I'm not sure

thank you all for the tips… to answer you questions, my employer covers the cost of the exam so I don't really have anything to lose by taking it. My other exam scores don't expire until October 2017 so I have plenty of time to work on FAR. Like I said, it's worth a shot, you never know!

For some reason, I am envisioning Lczarnecka strolling into Prometric after 3 days of studying FAR while “I Believe I Can Fly” plays in the background. 🙂

When I initially started taking my exam my employer said they would pay for 6 tests. I left after I had taken two and had to pay them back. My next employer didn't pay for the test, but I think it all worked out because 6 months after I left they let everyone in the accounting team go.

The whole accounting team was let go? Did the business go bankrupt or something?

All kidding aside, I'm genuinely rooting for you to pass. I studied FAR for three months and barely squeaked by. If you studied for 3 days and passed, to quote Ron Burgundy, “Heck, I'm not even mad! That's amazing!”

No, the company didn't go bankrupt but they weren't making any money – it was an investment company and the owners were basically keeping the business afloat by making contributions. It was a pretty small office with only 10 people on the team (including the CFO). After the layoffs they kept the CFO and the AP/Payroll manager.

I'm rooting for you too – yes it is crazy but you have a long weekend. Study 12+ hours a day. I've heard people of cramming and actually passing. Plus, from the sound of it you work in GL accounting.

    Good luck!
