    NINJA Question –

    Hey guys,

My FAR exam is in 3 weeks. (first time taking FAR) I completed 500 ninja mcq’s and I’m almost out of the assessment phase. I’m averaging and trending in the mid to high 50’s. I plan on hitting the questions hard these next 3 weeks to hopefully get my average and trending in the 80’s.

I feel like I need to hit about 4,000 questions to be in the clear with this exam (maybe more). what do you guys think about my trending and average scores so far? I know I need to go back and review the material about pensions, nfp, govt, ifrs and bonds to get a better understanding and foundation. When I used ninja mcq for REG and BEC, I also started off trending and averaging pretty low, but I don’t think it was this low (I think I was in the mid-60’s by 500 questions). I know I’m comparing apples to oranges so I’m probably way off with my comparison. Any opinions? Thoughts?

Also, for those who have already taken FAR,…. …I prepared for REG and BEC with ninja mcq’s and on exam day, I felt that ninja mcqs were harder and more specific about little details compared to the actual exam. I think the fact that ninja mcq’s were too specific and detailed actually hurt my score (I could be wrong though seeing how I passed both). Were the FAR ninja mcqs a good representation of what I should expect on exam day? What was the most beneficial thing you found you did (or didn’t do) when you prepared for FAR?

Any thoughts ideas or opinions are very appreciated.

My plan for attack at this point is to hit mcq’s HARD and review areas that I know I need to improve. Also, review journal entries the last 1-2 weeks when I practice sims. Sounds like a plan for success?

I wouldn't sweat your trending score. 500 q's really isn't that many when ya think of it. For REG I think I did 2,000 Q's from Ninja plus Becker Q's. 4,000 might be overkill 🙂

When you miss Q's just make sure you read why your choice was wrong. Do the same for the ones you guessed and got right.

I hated doing FAR q's b/c for the most part they take a while and will exhaust you mentally.

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

I just completed a little over 500 mcq for FAR and I'm averaging 56% and trending in the 40's smh. Bonds and leases just ripped me a new one and I was about to throw my laptop through a wall. Not sure how many hours you put in a day, but 3500 seems like a lot. You'd have to be doing over 150 a day, which I guess is doable, but I've been taking longer to go through them since it's my first attempt at doing the questions and I'm learning as I go. I make flashcards on Brainscape for certain answer explanations or exam nuggets I find in them. I know a lot of people here stress doing journal entries even if the question doesn't call for it, but I'm having a hard time doing it. Most of my professors didn't teach it that way so it's been difficult trying to replicate that. Roger makes it looks so easy and it kills me I can't do it like him!

Frickin leases. When I finished that section, I felt as though I'd been hit by a truck.

Jtgebrey- There were some questions on my FAR exam that were very similar to NINJA. I don't want to disclose too much and I have not taken REG or BEC but I definitely thought that NINJA MCQs were harder, detailed, and more specific than the actual exam. With that being said you definitely have to be that detailed to answer the SIMS.

RE2PECT- If you come back and read this: you need to do the Journal Entries. There is no way around those questions and you will more than likely have SIMS full of them. Don't make the same mistake as I did.
