    Hi all –

I took FAR on 4/30/2014 and came short a few points with a 72. I spent May studying for BEC and knocked that out.

Could you please chime in on when is a good date to take FAR? Wave 1? Or should I take it take it at the end of Q3 testing window?

    Thanks!

If you start studying now and do 2 chapters a week (like becker suggests if you use becker) you would be prepared by end of July early August. I would hit the books this weekend or early next week and go for it! If I can give you any advice for a FAR retake, when I studied for my retake I decided to skip the lecture videos since I already highlighted and took notes in the book and read through the chapters taking my own notes and did the MCQ. I was able to pass on the second try because I didn't waste time on the videos and focused on the materials. Hope this helps, good luck!

    FAR 66 (07/01/13), 75! (10/01/13)
    AUD 64 (08/12/13), 80! (11/23/13)
    BEC 84! (05/22/14)
    REG 77! (08/28/14)
    DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im taking it Q3, too. Scheduled for Aug30, but this will be my first time. How do you feel about the material? Do you think you need another full 2 months to restudy?

since it is your last exam, i would strongly recommend taking it at the end of the testing window. Put the most amount of time possible into studying for it so you can knock it out and be done forever. You aren't studying to get 3 more points, you are studying to get 75. Go through and study as if you have never taken it before. You dont want to mess around with FAR.

    FAR: 79
    REG: 75
    BEC: 82
    AUD: 80

i agree with zestysauce in the sense that you will want to capitalize on all of your time! Why rush and take it in july when you can take it in august and be 100% prepared! However, I do think theres such thing as over studying (not bc you will get a high score, but bc you start to add stress on yourself) and you don't want to do that to yourself either. Maybe set a date beginning of aug and if you need more time, push it back =)

I feel like I work best under pressure but like others have mentioned I definitely need to capitalize my time, before posting this I scheduled the exam for July 18th but I'm thinking of pushing it back now.

I'm using becker, Wiley test bank and ninja MCQ.

I have already rewatched the lectures F1-F8

Everybody is different. I could not spend two months studying what I just studied. I'd be bored and sidetracked by the end of August. So, if you are like me it might be best to figure out your “optimal” study period before automatically taking the slow and steady path.

Studying with Wiley Review, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja Audio.
    Retakes with Ninja MCQ only...awesome!
    Far - 1/28 72, 7/22 79
    Aud - 2/28 70, 8/14 83
    Bec - 4/10 80
    Reg - 5/30 64, 7/2 82

I agree with @koz124. For my 3rd FAR retake I started “studying” at the end of March and scheduled my exam for May 3rd (it was the only saturday 8AM slot available in chi-town). I didn't start studying seriously until mid April and really studied hardcore a week (took PTO) before the exam. The last time I took FAR was in Spring 2012 so most of the materials have evaporated from my brain. I had several meltdowns and woke up panicking in the morning. lol. But the pressure really helped me understanding the materials. I think you can take it before July 20 because most of the materials are still fresh for you.

I gave myself 2 weeks to study for my REG retake during Christmas holiday and it worked.

    Passed

If you aren't working then should definitely be ready by the first wave in July. Don't push it back. You'll just get burnt out and diminishing returns will start to happen on your studying. Good luck!

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85

I agree with Mamabear. If you are already done with FAR material once enough to get a 72, you r in pretty good shape. You just need to review. Since you are not working you can easily study 7-8 hours a day. Take it on your scheduled date and you should be okay. However do focus on everything not just the sections you scored weak on.

Good luck!! you are almost there!!!
