FAR – Retail Method?

Becker has a small apendix section at the end of F4 on inventory costing using the retail method. From those who have taken FAR before, is there a good chance I could see a couple of these quesitons on the exam?

From what I see from the book, it looks like it would take some time to learn each of the different methods and could potentially confuse me from what I already know for the regular inventory methods. Would I be ok to just completely skip this part?

    Thanks!

    REG - 82 (2/26/14)
    BEC - 87 (8/22/14)
    FAR - 83 (11/29/14)
    AUD - 85 (2/13/15)
    Ethics (TN) - 98 (5/9/15)

I was wondering the same thing. Based on the Final Review materials, it included a small section on retail inventory method. so it may be worth looking at but not spending too much time on? I haven't taken the exam but I don't imagine it would be heavily tested….

Those inventory methods were the only topic I completely skipped in FAR. I didn't think they were worth the effort to learn and memorize for what might equate to one question on the exam. Like you said, I also didn't want to confuse what I had already learned with this new-but-mostly-similar stuff.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

I did the same as James. Completely skipped over them. I remember encountering an optional Becker MCQ that referenced retail methods so I went and looked it up. As soon as I saw the breadth of the appendix, I just skipped right over it. There is no way it is worth the time investment.

For what it's worth, I don't even remember the Retail Method being discussed in Becker

You want to know the major inventory methods (Dollar Value LIFO hint hint) but I wouldn't spend too much time on an obscure one like that.

    Thanks for the responses!

Yall are all saying what I hoped you would. The potential of getting one or maybe two questions is not worth the time to learn it and fill precious brain matter with it!
