    Hey guys! New member here.

I have scheduled for FAR on 8/8, and realized that it may be a mistake…seeing how I am struggling so damn hard with F2 (i am currently using becker material). Do you guys have any recommendations on how I can make this happen? I am currently not working, and am taking one class in the summer time, so I have quite a lot of free time on my hands. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    PS. F2 is such a beast…

AUD most likely in the beginning of april 2016

    Welcome, Ninja!

Please clarify for us non-Becker users what F2 covers 🙂

I believe a month is plenty of time to study for FAR, given your situation. I studied for two months. Have you stayed on F2, or moved past it to cover other areas?

It sounds like time is on your side, my friend. My two months of FARtying (cross between studying, partying, and FAR – cheesy, I know) involved 4-5 days a week at 2-3 hours a day while working in public accounting, with a 17 hour Cram course the last three days prior to my exam.

    @Audit_This

Hello Audit_This, nice to meet you!

F2 talks about Timing Issues (rev. recog/matching principle), LT construction contracts, Installment Sales, Nonmonetary Exchanges, Financial Reporting and Changing Prices, Foreign Currency Accounting, and Other Financial Statement Presentations.

The part that took a lot of time was the first sub-section, related to cash/accrual basis accounting and R&D treatment of costs.

I just finished all of the multiple choice questions for this section, getting at least 90% on everything, and am working on the simulations now. It is extremely discouraging to get 40-60% on first attempts at MCQ. I usually get 80-100% on the second try after reading thoroughly of the explanations provided by becker. After feeling good about my scores on MCQ, I would get another crappy score on the optional review questions. I thought I knew the material really well…but these scores are telling me otherwise (sigh). Hopefully, I will be able to start the next section tomorrow.

I guess I am a bit worried about whether or not I can complete all 10 chapters of becker, and still have time to cram multiple choice questions before I sit for the exam.

Part of the learning process is getting the MCQs wrong the first time, seeing why you got them wrong, doing them again, and getting them right. This is normal, and I think your progress is commendable. I'd recommend moving forward with your lectures, and giving yourself cumulative reviews of everything studied to date. After F3, do a quiz over material covered from F1-F3, if possible.

You can, and will, do it!

That is good to hear. I have exactly one month left of studying FAR…and I am already having trouble sleeping at night. It is currently 3:34 am, and I am still reviewing MCQ for F2 rather than sleeping. This is my first section of the CPA, and I really want to get it done in my first try!

With the time you have you can definitely conquer FAR on 08/08. I didn't use Becker but I remember people in my study group talking about F2 and how much material there was. Just keep pushing and move on if you have to to get your confidence back up. It will come together. There will be sections you pass with flying colors immediately and others you have to keep at for a while to get, but it's all doable. You're actually in a better position than you think because you don't have to spread your studying out as much as those working full time/with families/etc. There is so much material in FAR that I think it is better to be able to study full time for 4 weeks than part time for 8 weeks. You can do it. Just review like the other commentor said so you can try to keep everything as fresh as possible going into your review, when you'll cover all topics over and over. You can do it!

Thank you all for the support! I have moved on from F2, and am starting F3 – Marketable Securities today. This all seems familiar from the intermediate courses I have taken in undergrad. Good luck to everyone else that is studying for FAR!

F2, parts of F3 and F4, from what I remember make up the cornerstone of FAR content. You'll either love or hate the bonds chapter…and you'll likely power through F8 and F9. Some are so crunched and spent at the end that F10 gets only a casual review. The pace and absorption rate will vary.

It all depends on how hard you want it. I worked 8-6:30PM and studied 7PM through midnight. I used to hate when people pulled the blowhard card on me; sorry for this, but it just felt appropriate.

NINJA audio/notes really help to tie things in. If you've thought about it and then said naaah… drop the money on it.

I believe signatures are disabled for score release load, but I passed the exam.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75
