You never know what the exam will throw at you. Just make sure you know your journal entries and financial statements.

I will tell you my experience. Other than audit, there were 1-2 wtf sims on all my exams. The worst one on FAR was on a subject I didn't study, but there was a subject I consider my strength that I could not solve. Wasted kind of a lot of time on that before I decided my time was better spent on solvable problems. Also other than research, you get partial credit on the SIMs so try to do ones that you do know and get as much of it right as possible. For example if it includes a journal entry add the given part of it like cash outflow. Those are free points.

I've had SIMS on AUD and REG that I would have been out of luck on, had it not been for my prior work experience and my familiarity with the AL. The AL is also a source of free points. I know I bailed myself out on at least 1 SIM in REG that I had no clue how to answer, but found word for word what I needed in the IRC and Regulations. Overall, I think in order to be prepared for SIMS, you need to be at least fairly comfortable with every topic that could be tested.
