Hello everyone. I will be taking FAR January 27th and this is will be the very first exam for the CPA. I am cutting it close but I am so very worried about the simulations for this exam. I have been doing all the studying I can possibly do and practicing multiple choice but have no idea what to expect for the simulations portion or how to even prepare. I am currently using Becker for exam preparation, Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

I think Becker does a good job of preparing you for the exam with their simulations. Use the authoritative literature for all of the SIMS, not just the research question. Enter “0” for any numbers you are not sure of or if you are running out of time. Even if you are right on half of the 0's you will be giving yourself a few extra points on the exam. Good luck!

    F - 79 5/31/13
    R - 68 07/12/13 Retake 88! 10/18/13
    B - 78 08/31/13
    A - 64 01/03/14 Retake 75! 5/23/14 I would rather have a 75 than a 99 any day!

Do not leave anything blank. I believe partial credit will be afforded to all non-blank answers. Also, you need to know how to record journal entries; the statement of cash flows is heavily tested; you need to practice your technique of writing out the problems on your scratch paper – to visualize the problem is exponentially helpful; however, you have to be able to manage your time in tandem with writing out the problem.

As it pertains to the research question, you need to use the “search within” function to drill down to the granularity contained in the codification. A lot of the questions can get very specific.

Do the Becker simulations and Wiley CPA test bank has a lot better simulation questions. This is my third time taking FAR I passed all the other 3 on my first try and got back to back 73s on FAR. You need to know journal entires chances are at least 3 of your 7 simulations will be of the journal entry type.

Great heads-up JayZenobi. JE's sometimes are not my friend.

Is there anyway the authoritative literature can help with journal entries?
