Hey all you future CPA’s ( I’m beginning to sound like the Becker video instructors),

I am finishing up with my first run through the FAR Passmaster and will begin the review portion until my test in April. From everything I’ve read on this forum, the FAR simulations seem impossible. So the question is, what can I do to better my chances of doing well on the simulations? I am taking the exam on April 9th. Also, what review strategies have you guys done to really cement what you had learned through repetition of the HW. Thank you!

My suggestion is to study thoroughly Government and Not-For-Profit accounting. I don't know about you, but I had never had any exposure to either of those two topics prior to beginning the Yaeger course. I put in a good amount of study time to both of them (but still probably not enough).

On the test, I felt like I answered the MCQs okay, but I thought I did bad on the SIMs. However, after receiving my score Government and Not-For-Profit were the only two topics that I received a “Stronger” score in.

What I took out of it: Government and Not-For-Profit are not topics that very many people are comfortable with. Because for me to have felt as poorly as I did about the questions I received and *still* receive a “Stronger” score tells me that despite how bad I felt I did, the majority of candidates must have done even worse. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for your reply. I actually just took the live lecture class on F8 & F9 today and I think I can follow along but I will have to really test is out once I try the homework. So you're saying that it would definitely be a competitive advantage to nail that topic then.

Yep, that's what I think. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like out of everything on FAR those topics may be the most difficult ones for people. So even if you only do okay on them, it can boost your score significantly compared to doing okay on other topics. But that's just my humble theory. 🙂

Okay thank you! I will definitely buckle down on those two modules. My instructor had some really great techniques related to these topics so I will hope that it'll help me. Did you take Audit today?!
