Is it ok to start a FAR Study Group? I retook Audit yesterday and although I don’t have a gut feeling either way if I passed or not, I am going to start on FAR. I am using Becker self-study and purchased the Ninja Notes for FAR.
I am looking forward to reading a/b everyone’s progression. Good Luck!

March 27, 2013 at 9:13 pm #417069AnonymousInactiveI thought I would post some links below for e-books that are a good source for suplementing Becker material when Becker does not explain material that well. They cost less than $10 each on amazon. Hopefully they can help you too for those people like me that sometimes have trouble with Becker's explations.

March 28, 2013 at 11:34 am #417071jpCPAMemberHey everyone,
Man I feel like I'm walking through quicksand here. I'm still doing videos and notes in week 5 and about halfway through. My test date is May 8th. Should I think about rescheduling yet? I have been averaging 20-25 hrs a week now and just don't feel I will ever get to the MCQ's. I have a wife and daughter so time management has been tough. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Unless you put in more study hours it doesn't seem like you will have enough time for final review which is key to passing. Without putting in a good bit of time with the MCQ it will be tough to pass. If you are serious about this date sit down with your wife and come up with a new schedule. I know how hard time mgmt is as I also have a wife and 2 kids. Not sure what your schedule is like but you can try Jeff's ELL plan. If you decide to reschedule do it sooner rather than later. I have 9 hours of video left just to give you an idea if where I stand. Good luck!

March 28, 2013 at 2:50 pm #417075AnonymousInactiveAlright FAR fam…what is your advice when it comes to final review? I plan on answering around 100 questions per day in the Wiley TB. Re-reading and re-writing Ninja Notes/personal notes. Re-doing questions in Wiley Book…are their any other tips/ advice/strategies that you can share with me. How are you doing your MCQ..are you answering questions by category, mixed or what? How many at a time? I was thinking 30 would be ideal bc of the testlets…any advice on timing??? This is definitely something I struggle on.
Anyways, I'm sure you guys can share some good info especially those who are taking the test in the next couple of days..Nashville and lbi18? 😉

I'm basically going through the Becker MCQs again, making sure I work out the problem and knowing how to arrive at the answer. I do a lot of MCQs a day because I don't have to work nor do I have kids. I'm 22 and will be starting with PwC in August – so I'm trying to get as much done as possible before I start!
Anyways, I would just redo as many MCQs you can and rewrite notes. I'm doing the questions by category, I'm not sure how to mix them up completely. I took my Becker Practice Exams already and score an 81% on both of them, so I feel confident! But, redoing questions and rewriting notes seems to be the best way to retain the knowledge. Since you have a full month of review ahead of you, pace yourself. You have plenty of time to review all of the material.

March 28, 2013 at 4:19 pm #417079MustPass1988Member@jpcpa- so have you done any MCQ's at all? I would stop doing the videos and notes ASAP and start doing MCQ's…because you're going to have all this knowledge and not really understand how to apply it. In fact, I would spend a lot more time on MCQ's than anything else throughout the whole studying process. I know of people who have passed and havent even listened to the lectures, they just do multiple choice over and over again.
