Hello all, I will be retesting in January for FAR. I failed BEC and AUD before, but took a test in between before retaking. This is my last test, so there is nothing else to take. Does anyone have any tips on immediately jumping back in?? What have others done? Thanks in advance….

    BEC 7/19/13 81

I am progressing at a snail pace at this time and I am getting discouraged. This is my first exam so I am still re-getting used to study large amounts of material.

Question for the group: Do you continue with the same chapter until you learn every concept or continue with the next and come back to it?

I am using Becker and I am still in Chapter 2 🙁

@CPAbefore40 I had to move on from Chapter 2 (using Becker) I went on to 3 and it made sense to me and onto chapter 4 now. I will look back at Chapter 2 but I felt so discouraged after answering those questions. Maybe we should start a post on that chapter specifically with a few different questions and see how others answer it and maybe it'll make sense to both of us ha!

I almost went through FAR once…but chickened out during the 2 week review! pushed it to Q1 '15…From what I have seen…if you are using Becker, F2 can drain your confidence if your intermediate accounting is not too strong. Next , govt accounting can be a bit hard to grasp if you have not taken any related courses recently. If you are like me and would like to take the tough ones first…these and for some people pensions might be the place to start…just a suggestion

Again…I am still to dive into the world of IFRS…not too good at it. Any pointers/study tips will be helpful…leme know.

    Thanks !

    Goodluck to all:)

Just so I know, if I have to take FAR again in January/February, do I need to learn the new 1.1 materials?

    AUD - 08/04/14 - 83
    FAR - 11/29/14 - 80
    REG - 02/26/15 - 89
    BEC - 05/30/15 - 86

    DONE!

Hi guys, is anybody can tell me how many times per month FAR section (as well as any other section) can be scheduled? I am a new CPA marathon candidate. I don't have NTS yet. Is it like every week in Jan-February-2015 or every 10 days which brings three times a month? Having a full time job, my study-plan should be productive and ore calculated well. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Hoping to take FAR in February. Love the tips and discussions so far. I am pretty new to all of this, but I do eventually move on even with the weak chapters. Sometimes they come together later.

@Nat – I am not entirely sure if I am understanding your question, but you can only schedule one section per test window. So you can only get one scheduled FAR in the Q1 window (you can move it). Did that sort of answer what you are asking?

@CPAbefore40 – Becker F2 gets most people. I moved on and found it much easier on second round. But in the end, do what makes you comfortable- we will all have different preferences and study methods that work best for us.

@lonewolf – Yes use 1.1, if you were previously using 1.0, no worries- very little changed.

@Nat63, I am with BeautifulNim, not really sure what you are asking, but here is the breakdown. You can only take each section once test during the window, but you can take any number of sections during a window, so for example- Jan-Feb (no testing in March) is window 1, you can take any or all FAR, AUD, BEC, or REG, but you can only take, say, FAR once. As for scheduling the exam, Prometrics has TONS of appointments. What is available per center will change, as people sign up or cancel. But most centers have testing 7 days a week, and appoints from early morning to early evening. Depending on your local center and how busy they are will directly related to what is available for you specifically. The earlier you register, the more available appointments there will be. Also keep in mind, Prometric Centers do more than just CPA testing. Good luck in your new testing adventure.

I am confused on how to answer this question 🙁 Chapter 2 from Becker

On April 1, Year 1, Ivy began operating a service proprietorship with an initial cash investment of $1,000. The proprietorship provided $3,200 of services in April and received full payment in May. The proprietorship incurred expenses of $1,500 in April, which were paid in June. During May, Ivy drew $500 against her capital account. What was the proprietorship's income for the two months ended May 31, Year 1, under the following methods of accounting?

    Cash-Basis Accrual-Basis

    a. $3,200 $1,700

    b. $1,200 $1,200

    c. $1,700 $1,700

    d. $2,700 $1,200

    Hi Jeff,

The Far Book said that it includes Ten Point Combo? Does it mean that it includes all the MCQ and SIMS practice also?

    Thanks

CPAwannabe – The Combo comes with the book, audio, notes, mcq/sims, flashcards, blitz. Does that help? I hope I'm answering your question.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

    @nosleep

I would be tempted to go with “a” what was the answer?
