I am more likely to write notes around MCQ more than anything else. I don't do notes almost at all around the initial read of material or video lecture (I am using Gleim + Ninja). And yes, I especially do it with Ninja MCQ because you get instant feedback and reasoning. I would probably not write my reasoning for why I did it wrong, but I do like to write the notes for the correct response. In fact, that is the notes I tend to repeat the most. I swear there is always a handful of questions that I seem to repeatedly miss. It may take several passes, and re-writing the same notes, for me to finally get it right.

DSE Reporting – developed stage entities QUESTION:

Is anybody can tell about financial reporting for DSE-development stage entities? The thing is FASB has released a new standard for that kind of reporting in June-2014 but it is still not clear to me. FASB eliminated certain financial reporting requirements, incl. an amendment to VIE – variable interest entities. So, basically they re-named those kind of entities. Honestly, it is so vague that I am trying to read again and again and no easy formula to understand it.

The trick for me was do as many MC as I could. It's important to study the notes or videos or read the book to get your base knowledge up to a certain point. After that, just pound MC questions and you will see your knowledge base grow over time. If you keep doing the same types of questions, after awhile, you know how to answer those questions.

With FAR, there is not enough time to learn how to do every type of problem 100% correct. There is enough time to learn how to do a majority of the problems 100% correct.

I'll be joining you guys on this as well. I may have to wait until q2 if the state or my school doesn't process my transcripts in a reasonable time. I was thinking of getting the becker book to study and just pound mcqs and sim questions, but I can't find the becker 2015 FAR book on their website.

Finally get to start studying for this beast today. I think the overtime at work has finally subsided to where I can get into some sort of routine. I'm oddly kind of looking forward to it. Is that weird? Lol.

Anybody have any tips for this mama on retakes? Found out tonight I failed FAR with a 72…last one :(. I now have to study with tax season, a move, and two kids and I lose REG in April. I know there is no way I can get through the book again. Should I just start MCQs. Wait to get my score information and focus on my weak areas? What have other people done successfully? I need this test done!

@Determined, am with you and Future Ninja I got 74 and am not surprised or upset. I didn't earn the pass, didn't study hard enough. Am now ready to demolish FAR Q1 am officially joining. I take Audit on the 5th of Jan then it's me and FAR at the end of Feb.

@acoufal I'm in the same boat, I got a 71. I'm using Roger & NINJA 10PT combo. Roger walks us through class questions so I'm going through those videos quickly section by section so I can refresh my memory and then doing cumulative MCQs and creating my own flash cards on brainscape. Going to work on SIMS too at some point since I really didn't do any last time. I know my weak areas but I still haven't received my score report so I'm hoping for more guidance on where I should really focus on. I've gotten advice from several sources and since a 71 is so close to passing they've said to really concentrate on MCQs and do as many as possible. I'm a little limited on time since I want to re-take the exam on 1/2. Hopefully I'm not fooling myself and I can pass. Unfortunately after 1/3 work will get crazy for a month and I won't be able to study so I figured I”d take a chance. Anyone else have any tips? Joining the study group to hopefully get help and help others as well. Good luck to all of us!
