I guess the one thing I should do is stop pushing him...hahaha I told him once the exam is done then the pressure will really be on because I won't have studying to distract me! :)
you tell him MPoni123...The dude needs to make up his mind... thats the ultimatum my wify gave me.I was with her for about 3 years she woke one morning and layed out in a nice way, I either marry her or basically we start looking at different options e.g taking our seperate ways. Well am glad I did marry her cause she's the only one who can stand my bs..lol...
LOL @ whonis!! My boyfriend wants to feel like he isn't being pressured into asking me...he wants to feel like he did it all on his own. He does want marriage (with me haha) but isn't ready yet. We will see how fast that changes :)
Yea 22, we have been together for about 8 yrs... grew up in the same town, went to the same highschool and then went to the same college. I don't want to get too sappy here lol so I'll keep all the love stuff out... I have no pointers for your guy... some guys (and girls too i suppose) do not want to be "tied down" or dont feel they can be "committed". I had a friend who was with a girl for about 5 yrs, and never proposed to her, she was pushing him too from year three on. He is in the army (was at school at the time), so before he left to his basic training this year he finally proposed.. I think it was more he was pressured into it than anything, not sure though.
Wow 8 years!! It's good that you guys grew up together...and not grew apart. Lol your story about your friend is so comforting to me haha. I just think the idea of marriage scares him lol
Hey FAR survivors
It is a good day! Sunny maybe a bit of rain later
Trevor - I am impressed - my parents grew up together and married - they have always been happy together
Hey cpa journey!
Yea everyone is always in shock when they hear "8 years" and we look at eachother and laugh. It isn't so common anymore...
@MPoni - I am sure that is it, you know better than me, but I am sure he loves you - just scared to commit. We have a good relationship thats for sure, couldn't imagine life without her (tear tear lol) but seriously.
Another note, I have a meeting to go to! amybe I'll be back on aroung 4:30... have fun without me!!!
Hi cpajourney!
Trevor - Ya I know he does :) Maybe I should stop pushing him and let life take its course!!
MPoni123
Good luck - hope he pops the question and you say YES!!!!
I did not sleep much last night either and have been up since 4 am - hope I can get back into a normal routine soon
lol thanks cpajourney!! I will definitely say yes! :) Ya I hear you...my sleep schedule is all messed up!
Wow...all of this marriage talk on here is SCARY...I would rather take FAR once a month for the rest of my life LOL
I live in Downtown Boston though so a lot of guys tend to hold out until their mid 30s / early 40s....
LOL @RittCPA - is it a Boston thing??? My boyfriend is originally from Cambridge lol
I love how this thread became a relationship discussion blog from FAR study strategy advice!
Can we have Jeff set up a non-CPA more life-oriented forum? =)
Can I get a what-what?
"I can do it cpa" we are just easing the stress and tension after our FAR exam yesterday. Takes things off our minds for just a second.. No worries we will be back to business any minute now.. class teacher "just kidding"...lol...
Haha well since I started this thread I guess I can steer the convo!! lol :) My boyfriend wouldn't be surprised where this conversation went! After the intense few weeks we all had I am glad to be talking about something other than the FAR exam!
Funny story - I had a dream last night that Cindy from Yaeger Homestudy came to my apartment and went more in depth on a topic because I was confused!!! hahaha
@MPONI - It is definitely a "Big City" Northeast thing. New York City is the worst. People hear "relationship" and run.
@MPoni123
LOL What an amazing dream! Did she come for free? hahaha I want some free tutors on some topics in my dreams too! =)
Well I don't remember paying her...she just kinda showed up so I guess she makes free house calls!! Cindy is a mini celebrity in my book. I would love to meet her! lol
HAHA just read through what I missed, sounds like I missed quite a bit! May I add, we have taken the forum thing to a new level, this is more of a friends chat on AIM or something lol, and the best part is we have never even met eachother. Last couple of week have been pretty awesome though, lets hope we all did not pass so we can do it again in October............. JK lol seriously we better have passed or i'll be WICKED pissed lol.
For whatever reason, I did not sleep well either... it's actually wierd that none of us did... I also woke up @ 4, well it was like 4:03...
LOL Trevor you did miss quite a bit! :) I have enjoyed these last few weeks with everybody. You guys are my online friends!
You're all out of your minds haha. After my failed attempt at an engagement, I'm now a commitment phoebe. If I passed this FAR exam, I'm moving on to the LSAT to keep myself busy and away from marriage, lol.
Thought I'd join in. I've been married to my husband 10 years back in April. We actually got married when I was 19 & he was 20. Well actually we had our daughter first. Noone thought we would make it, but here we are 10 years later.
I also had trouble sleeping last night, took hopefully my last exam. Man, I sure hope I pass. I began this process a year ago.
For FAR, I was 95% positive I failed, but ended up passing. I was so shocked I bout pooped my pants.....you just never know with these exams.
I haven't been sleeping well for a very long time. I took my last exam on Monday, and although it has been only 2 nights since then, I have slept well those 2 nights.
financeguy you paid your dues time to get some rest dude. smell those lovely summer flowers in CA.....
okay folks now that am collected I have a serious question regarding the FAR exam I took yesterday. Is it normal to get a lot of theory questions as compared to calculations?? My exam was flooded with lots of short theoretical
questions and it was hard to determine whether the level of difficult was increasing or not. I could have sworn it remained the same which could signal bad news for me...
whonis
Stop thinking about it. Cut yourself off. There is nothing you can do now. It will only drive you crazy. Just wait for your results. I was 99% sure I failed, and very pleasantly surprised.
whonis,
What's difficult in the eyes of the AICPA may not be difficult for you. I felt that for AUD and FAR the testlets did not increase in difficulty at all. I thought they were all equally challenging but very manageable. Obviously, since I scored so highly on both of them, they had to have increased in difficulty, since that's supposedly what happens, but I was prepared enough that it didn't matter.
I'm guessing that's what happened for you, too. You probably nailed the exam and even their "difficult" testlets didn't trip you up. This whole testlets getting more difficult thing is silly. I think it's a bunch of crap and I do my best not to pay any attention to it. Topics that are hard for you may be easy to others, and vice versa. An "easy" topic may have not been covered in your review course, so it's difficult for you. A "difficult" topic may have been covered in depth in your review, so you cruised right through it, thinking you had an easy testlet. There are so many variables...pre-test questions, length of questions, theory, calculations, preparedness, perception of easy vs. difficult...it's impossible to tell if your testlets changed.
My two cents.
