a while back someone posted that these types of questions would be considered tough - there are two concepts that you have to get right - just pulled out my MCQ and used this as an example

I passed AUD and did not notice the testlets getting harder. Actually smiled during the second testlet -as the thought went through my head that between Becker review and Gleim MCQ that all the test questions seemed like a well traveled road

Hi cpa journey!! :) My day is going well, thank you. Back to work and have some things to do, but overall a stress-free day! How is your day going? What state are you from? I probably asked you that 1,000 times but I don't remember lol. Sorry. Do you work in public accounting? You will NOT regret ordering BEC with Yaeger! I mean for me...with 2 failed attempts already, something had to change! If you are not having problems with Economics per your score report, I would honestly skip the lecture and just do the minimum required MCQs. I would also recommend watching the business structure with Phil Yaeger even if you are not weak in that area because I actually learned more about it than with Becker. (I think Yaeger expands on it more).

On a side note...something that I just thought about - I never use the spell check function for my WC portions! lol I always just reread them, but I don't even think of using it! haha. I mean I passed AUD and REG using the same technique (just rereading) so I guess it isn't a big deal...oh well!

Hi guys couldn't keep away for 20 days until the score release. MPoni, I guess you can do that if you are a good speller.

Going into the exam I felt so burnt out after doing a cumulative (for all exams) of about 10,000 MCQs and sim questions 3 to 4 times I didn't realize I hit the start button and sat there for like 10 seconds schocked that the exam started.

How many MCQs did you guys tackle before sitting for each exam.

FARSUXCPA I tackled an average of 3,000MCQ's each for Regulation, Auditing and BEC and I passed all 3 sections of the exam. I only took one section per window and it works. I am now currently studying for FAR and I am following the same strategy. I plan to do as much as 3,500 MCQ's. The more MCQ's you work the more chances you pass the exam!

BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONE

That is very true Suzette. That is certainly more than my average of 2500 per section though I did do them 3 to 4 times each. What materials did you use. I passed the same sections you did and I sat for FAR on 8/31/10. I guess I just wanted to open up a discussion on and take a poll on the effort it takes to pass the 4 sections.

I mainly used Wiley and Yaeger and I supplemented it with questions from Becker, Gleim and CPAReviewforfree in every section that I took. Some might say " overkill " but I graduated from college 26 years ago and I am starting from scratch everytime I review for each section. English is also my second language so I have difficulty in WC, however I compensated it with MCQ's which really helped me a lot to pass.

BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)

Spent the day catching up on stuff! I am so far behind - have a ton of paperwork to organize and file Yuck! I swear it grows and multiples while you are not looiking. I always use spell check - I am a sloopy speller and typer Can't imagine what kind of laughter there would be if humans actually grade those WC!

Looking forward to the Yeager material. I was ok in everything but cost - which is odd - I have a strong cost background. Oh well. Just need a few precious point to get over the hump.

So glad is behind us for now.

Have a lunch date for tomorrow. How nice is that - no guilt over having fun! From Texas - the Lone Star State

That sounds like a good plan. Will IFRS apply to AUD next year? I plan on my r-etake of BEC in Oct and then REG in Nov. Good luck.

Hey everyone!

Have you all been skimming your notes and working some questions in the past week to keep the FAR material fresh?

HA!

One thing that has been irking me the past week are friends and family who ask how it feels to be done. I haven't passed yet and I won't let down my guard until I see a passing score in the blue box!

I hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend! Fall is here and football is starting!

REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

Hey!! Umm... No skimming for me lol. I have taken a much needed study break. Went to NY for a Wedding this past weekend - played a lot of golf! well I hit the ball around, call it golf if you want lol. It was a worse than ever round to start the weekend, but by sunday I was back to a low 90..

Waiting for that damn blue box too!!

Yes I am studying - I did not put enough time into the first time and have a feeling that I will need to re-take it next window.

But, have enjoyed the slower pace.

Ha! I tried to study, but then I went to Montreal to party and haven't cracked a book since. There is a 60% chance I passed that baby and am done. My problem was the simulations, and you can't really study for that...I try to get my points on MCQs. Besides, I will not forget the calcs...I may have to refresh my mind on the straight memorization stuff though. If I failed, I am going to buy a whole new set of multiple choice questions because I did all the ones I had twice, and now know some of the answers by heart (not a good look). That makes my current study materials crap...

Idrathergolf - I know what you mean. People are already congratulating me I am like woah woah woah!! I don't even have my score yet lol. I mean I am not gonna lie it definitely feels like I am done right now. I know in about 2 weeks though when scores get released I will be a hot mess. Oh well. At least I can sleep at night now!! lol

Hey! I have been checking while a work every so often, but it is very quiet... I ordered my REG study materials (should be getting those soon... mixed emotions on that). I hope to heck that I passed FAR so I only have one section to go, but honestly I have no clue. Some of the posts by people make me feel decent about my chances, but in my head I won't let myself believe I passed - it sucks...

Any study tips/advice for taking REG from all of you who have passed... man I am in with the right group lol.

Trevor - did you get your study materials yet?! My REG exam was a nightmare! (I took it in November 2009) using Becker and I honestly thought I failed the exam. I just think at that time I didn't realize that if the testlets were getting harder, that was a good sign. Either way, my exam was difficult. I don't really have any tips - just make sure you have a good understanding of the topics they go over! REG can get tricky with all the tax stuff. The business law stuff wasn't too bad.

So, BEC is supposed to be released this week...we will see! Once BEC is released I will be FREAKING OUT. I am already nervous lol.

My materials should be in today, got Yaeger again... has worked for me thus far. I am also very nervous about the scores for FAR. I hope I passed, but honestly I have no idea. I would think I did not pass, but then again from some of the stories out there who the heck knows. We can all just hope for the best! and keep smiling!

On a study note... I am taking REG 10/18 which gives me 5 weeks to study. However, I have stuff going on 3 of the 5 weekends and potentially 4... I am really going to have to put my head down and study during the week. I am undecided on what I will do when I get me FAR score... If I do not pass I might push my REG back to the begining of Nov... and retake FAR within the first couple weeks of Oct. For me I feel like REG is on the back burner because I want to pass FAR before 1/1/2011...

What would you all do if this was your situation?

Trevor - I am supposed to be sitting for REG on 10/22 and have stuff going on 2 or 3 weekends as well. But my biggest kicker is I'm taking 2 Tax graduate courses that start this week. I just got one of my syllabus and my midterm (worth 40%) of my grade is on 10/27. Its a class in Individual Tax, so I know there will be some overlap but god I know I won't be able to study that weekend after taking REG exam on Friday afternoon. I might be pushing it out as well probably by 2 or 3 weeks because I have another commitment already at the end of October. I would say maybe push it back since you don't want to be so stressed out you can't enjoy yourself on those weekends or make yourself cram for a few days before your exam, especially since this could be your last exam!

Trevor - if you have to retake FAR I would suggest pushing REG back until 11/30 and retaking FAR mid October. You already studied for FAR so a lot of the topics are still semi fresh in your head. REG is a brand new mini beast...I would probably start studying REG (at least the first few chapters or so) because we will find out about FAR next week (hopefully).

Not to mention if you retake FAR say 2nd week of October..that will leave you with about 6 weeks to study for REG if you schedule it on 11/30 instead of the 5 weeks you have now. If we know our FAR scores by next week...that will still leave you with about 3 weeks to study/review for FAR. I think that makes the most sense.

Connie I feel the same way you do. I am already nervous about scores and BEC hasn't even been released yet lol. It was nice not feeling nervous or anxious or any other feelings associated with the CPA exam for the last 2 weeks. That is over now!

Side note...it's funny how some people use "FARE" and others use "FAR." I personally like FAR better because all the other ones have 3 letters, too so they are all comparable. I get that FAR is financial accounting and REporting...but why take the first two letters of that last word? I dunno I guess that bothers me haha. :)

LOL MPoni - I vote for FAR as well. I like the consistency of the 3 letters for all the exams. Maybe we just have too much time on our hands right now!
