Ok...number 56...where do they get the 58 months from? I don't understand why they are dividing the $261,000 / 58 x 1 month? 1 month is from August - September...but where the hell is 58 months coming from?!

Trevor - do you have a screenname or something? (for AIM or AOL) I am not sure if talking about the MCQs and answering questions will be efficient through this method lol ...I am always online
Hi guys!!
I took FAR yesterday.... Second testlet was definitely more difficult than the first. I watched the time and made sure I left 45 minutes each for the Sims. I went straight to the written communications on both and both WC were quite difficult. I was able to put together an ok memo for both but it took me longer than I would have liked. My first sim was doable....the second was so unreasonable. Just entirely too much information to read and get to put together decent answers for in the amount of time given. I used every last second! Lots of J/E's too....
I just feel such a sense of relief to be done for now....and waiting for my score. I really think it could go either way for me, I'm just hoping that special prayer and blessing my pastor said for me last Sunday will put me over the edge! LOL
Thinking about all of you who are taking this beast in the last couple days of the window, and sending you positive thoughts!!
Ok MPoni!
I just read today's posts from you. You had better get your butt in gear. Take it from me, this exam SUCKS so much more than any of the other 3. Put everything you have into your studies the next 3 days and make it pay off on Tuesday!!!!
Connie - I have been thinking about you and wondering how your exam went!! :) I am glad it is over for you...seems like your exam was awful but hopefully you passed! I can't wait to get it over with...and you are right...I definitely need to kick it into high gear! Thanks for the advice..I really need to plow into these MCQs these next few days!
Good evening freaks!
I am now starting to study for the evening. My goal: F7 homework reading, Cash flows (Lecture & MC), and to begin GOVT.
sorry, just logged back in... Dinner then some more studying...
@Connie - could you point out some things to defintely study? I know Gov't and NFP will be a larger part... I feel like Investments will be also. But for the others, Inventory, fixed assets, deferred taxes, cash flows...
Update: I have read my notes through module 13 (SHE) now... still have only done through module 9 for MCQ's I feel like I should just start doing MCQ's and studying that way - kind of tag team it... thoughts? Normally I feel unprepared, but this time seems far worse... I cannot remember all of this stuff, but I feel I have a good handle on about 40% of it...
@Idrathergolf, how was your round? time for the book!! Ugh this is killer
Guys my engine is burned out my GOD.... I have been reviewing everything from F1 to F5 becker review for the second time. Leaving the finals for monday before I take the exam on Tuesday. Second time around is eeehhh.... somewhat fair but still extensively brutal... How does one get all these concepts in the head without forgetting...Lord help me in this exam.... jeeee... this is really crazy. Mponi123 how are your studies progressing.
@whoonis, man I feel ya, my mind is F.R.I.E.D.!!! I am already thinking about the retake... :(
Hi guys - my studies are not progressing at all!! lol I did the MCQs for Module 9 twice (fixed assets) and a few of them confuse me, but I need to move on. I completely skipped Module 8 (Inventory)...can't believe I only have 2 days left. I am just burned out from BEC and tried to conquer FAR at the same time...don't think it's happening...
Trevor Dude this is outright punishment....I swear I have never seen this in my life. When your done with one chapter then you move to the next, its like you never saw the previous chapter before, when trying out the questions. DAMN......this is crazy
Feeling the same way. Tried loading the Becker Final Review - technical problem (always helps if you have the correct Course CD). Anyway I am going through the Final Review - maybe a 1/3 instead of 1/2.
Glad we did not have melt downs today.
lol @cpajourney - no meltdowns I just completely avoided the material!! haha
self preservation is a good thing. I am looking forward to a good nights rest tonight. I am very keyed up. Yikes
Yup... glad but not to see its not just me... I am thinking about pulling an all nighter, One of my computers will not boot up (one with the wiley software...) keep getting the blue screen of death. So I am on the desktop set up on my TV, butit is a very uncomfortable position, sitting on the floor using my coffee table for a desk... Times like these I wish I had a laptop.
@MPoni, I would have aim if my other comp would start... I do not have it on this one. if you have gmail we could gchat.
Trevor, the round was verrry long but it was good. A 5 hour and 15 minute round! If I can play at regular speed I am normally done in 3 hours and 15 minutes! At most!!
I shot my best score in weeks. I had a 39 on the front and a 43 on the back with 32 putts total. I currently work part-time as a bookkeeper for a local nonprofit. Today the bosses took out 2 4-somes for a free round so it was hard to turn down. Study or free-golf? HA!
Did you end up watching much of the Barclays? When I was leaving this afternoon I saw Tiger started off with a triple! It made my double bogeys today not look so bad.
I have got to study more, so off to the books I go. Thinking about going to barnes and noble tomorrow to study so I have no distracions. I have "studied" for about 7 hrs, but only prob. 4 have been productive.
Haha yea i had it on mute in the background. yea that triple killed him... Thats a good round and def. tough to turn down! I played last weekend in a scramble tournament with my buddy for a bachelor party, we ended up in 3rd @ 4 under... decent round, we normally both shoot mid to high 80's!! We never had to worry about a drive all day, we are both long hitters and were hitting about 310, the chipping however was brutal. sadly I am better with a 7 @170 then a PW @ 130, should prob hit a 3 wood or iron off the tee.....
Quick question.... is anyone here focusing on ratios? After trying to cram so much information trying to memorize 20+ ratios just seems to be too much.
@Trevor - I don't have gmail! :( Sorry...looks like this forum will have to do lol...I am gonna tackle Module 10 now..CA and CL..that stuff I feel pretty comfortable with so I am gonna go review the MCQs now. I REALLY have to get stuff done Sunday and Monday this is getting ridiculous!
Idrathergolf forget about Tiger watchout for that scottish lad Martin Laird
@Idrathergolf - I will probably focus on the basic ratios (inventory turnover, etc.) I have a feeling if they are gonna test ratios in a simulation...they will provide us with the ratios in the simulations and have us analyze them or something. That is my opinion
310! The boomstick! Drive for show putt for dough. Well over half my shots come from 100 yards and in.
For little study breaks I have 2 dimes about 8-10 feet apart in my living room and I will putt 6 balls back and forth for 15 minutes!
I still miss 2 footers!
Whonis, if you are reviewing F1-F5 for a SECOND time you are much better off than I am. I just finished F7 for the FIRST time. I am hoping to just be able to go through all of the material once (excluding supplemental).
What are there 20+ ratios??? all I have written down is inventory turnover, # days supply in inventory, current and quick... also EPS but thats not really a ratio..
Thats good MPoni. I was a little mad about the AUD materials. I spent so much time trying to memorize the rations and on the SIMS we are given a tab with all of the ratios!
Idrathergolf wish it could all stick lol....
Becker has a F7 homework reading with:
Liquidity ratios
Activity ratios
Profitability ratios
LTD ratios
Investor ratios
Ya F That I NEVER read any of the "homework readings"....if it wasn't important enough to go over in the regular lecture than I am not looking at it!
@Trevor - in one of the Yaeger modules Cindy had you put a check mark next to all the ratios she wanted us to "know" lol
Yea I know it, oddly though my putting is the bomb too!! I never place my ball on any type of line, I see a lot of people do it and it just messes me up. I am a feel guy... anything inside 5 is a definite, 5-10 is like 75%, 10-20 is like 60% (over 50 for sure...) just the chipping and short game is brutal.
C'mon really??? oh well lol I think i could figure out ratios... Could not figure out far more things of concern
OK I am headed to the store for some energy drinks, anyone want a NOS while I am there? Then studying, I will come back on around 2AM EST..
@Trevor - I am going to stay up and study, too! I am gonna do a few modules tonight (hopefully). I really need to at least REVIEW all this material before tue. and that includes doing the MCQs
OK meet you back here at 2 to discuss, dont worry if you have to go to bed lol.. If anything is urgent though email me tmarsha21@gmail.com it comes right to my phone...
I will e-mail you now so you have my e-mail address as well!
Ok Trevor - I sent you an e-mail....see you back here in a few hours!! I will definitely still be awake
On a side note...are we like the only 5 people taking FAR at the end of the month??!!! lol the FAR forum is so quiet and no one new is really posting here.
MPoni, I am not too sure.
I just received my reminder e-mail from Prometric.
On a side note, another motivation to passing FAR this time: To be DONE with Tim Gearty. I'm OK with the Italian Ice, but Tim Gearty is pretty annoying.
It hurts knowing that I have F8 and F9 with Tim.
LMAO @Idrathergolf! hahah ya I used Becker for both AUD and REG and it worked well even though I thought Tim Gearty was annoying. I switched to Yaeger after failed attempts at BEC using Becker and then I already had Becker for FAR and I only got to Chapter 2 and was like...I can't do this..lol I NEED to order Yaeger for FAR as well!! haha
Peter Olinto is ok...I dunno I guess after Yaeger those 2 both aggravate me!
No matter what material you use though...the amount of information in FAR is just so overwhelming. I am hoping that one time through the MCQs and a review of my notes and Jeff's notes is enough to get me to a 75.
How many MCQ will you have done total?
I believe Becker FAR without the supplemental is 1,030.
I am not sure how many minimum MCQs Yaeger assigns (they are listed on a piece of paper) so I don't know the total...definitely not that many!! lol I am on CA and CL right now...I think I have a pretty good handle on that and like A/R and allowance for doubtful accounts and stuff. There are probably a few hundred if not more minimum MCQs that Yaeger assigns? Not to mention we actually go over MCQs during the lectures as well.
its about 400-450 in yaeger... I am ok with AR and the allowance also, but the servicing assets/liab is messing with me...
I know the basics...without recourse..person you sold them to has the responsibility. With recourse...you still have the responsibility for uncollectibility. You only take them off the books if they are sold....if they are pledged or assigned then they are still yours! I think that is the jist of it?
Oh...and if you sell them WITH recourse...you have to book a liability which is at FMV
is that part of servicing? I thought that was just selling A/R... see im screwed, i thought servicing was like keeping track for the person who bought them... no idea :(
Idrathergolf
When you are going over the govt portion (F8 and part of F9) one way to reduce the time going through the material is very repeative
They break down the types of funds as follows
GRASPP -> basically the same info
SE -> same info
PAPI -> same info
Listen to the lecture for one of each type and then scan to see the rest is the same
Trevor - I think it's part of servicing? And if someone bought the liability from you...you don't need to keep track of it anyway because it is off your books. You only have to be aware if you sell them *WITH* recourse b/c your company will still be responsible if the customers default...that's why you have to book a liability @ FMV on your own books.
Ok...I think I am done with CA and CL...moving on to Module 11, which I really don't want to lol. I think tomorrow I will start at Module 20 and work my way up. Those are more theory questions anyway and less calc.questions so I think I can get those outta the way faster. I will have to visit Inventory at some point, too. :(
Thanks for the tip cpa journey... I was also told that the first 1/2 of F9 is fairly repetitive. Is this true?
It may not hurt to have the repetition due to the fact that I will probably not be going over this material again before Tuesday.
I honestly think between now and Tuesday I will have enough time to finish the lectures/multiple choice questions, and read through the CFA/CPA notes twice.
Unfortunately I have to work Monday and I don't see anyway of getting out of work early to study.
Ok.. I think I can handle that, just went back in the book and made some flashcards.. pretty straight forward really...
Trevor - did you take a lot of notes while watching the lectures?! I think I took a decent amount...I have a 3 subject notebook (college ruled) and 2 out of the 3 subjects are full and a little of the 3rd is used up, too!
Before my exam, I will probably review my notes and skim through Jeff's. The problem with other people's notes is that you didn't write them...so sometimes I may have trouble understanding what is trying to be said.
I have to admit I am getting a lot more done tonight b/c my boyfriend is down for the night! I guess it's comforting to know he is in the other room?!
Idrathergolf - Why are you reading through CFA notes? Where did you get them?
(even if he has been asleep for the past 2 hours lol)...I don't feel so alone! Plus I have you guys, too!
They are not CFA notes... They are notes from a site CFA/CPA .... they are based on the 2009 Becker materials. On the past three exams I have gone through the entire book and created notes, but since I obviously don't have the time I just plan on reading through these notes once or twice to refresh the material.
Do you think your boyfriend feels neglected?
It has been difficult trying to pass these exams over the summer with a roomate who is unemployed.
I am either working or studying basically, and it seems that everytime I step out of my bedroom for a break he is playing video games or watching a movie! He will go to sleep hours before me and when I am leaving for work he is still sleeping!
Jealousy at its finest!
Ooh gotcha
hahaha @Idrathergolf - Well you are actually working towards something important so look at it that way! :) I hear you though I would love to have no goals sometimes and not know otherwise haha.
I don't think he feels neglected...I just think sometimes he doesn't wanna be around me haha because the stress of these exams has DEFINITELY gotten to me on more than a few occasions and he gets the brunt of it. I always apologize though and he knows that the exams make me a little crazy. He wants these things over though too so we can actually enjoy our time together!
