Hi , I just want to know people who are taking this part in april and how do hey feel.

Hi , I just want to know people who are taking this part in april and how do hey feel.
aweful!!! Each topic in any chapter takes me atleast 3-4 hours to complete. I am not too good in calculations!! I hope I dont fail
But what review are you using? Becker? Look, I read a chapter in 2 days and the third day is for doing the MCQ,
I just scheduled my FAR exam for April 19th. I'm already not feeling too good about it because I have been putting this last exam off for several weeks now. I finally decided to schedule it in hopes that I would feel some pressure to start studying. I am using Becker 2010 materials, and it looks overwhelming. The only thing giving me hope is that even if I am struggling with the material I will know that so is everyone else, so it is normal and does not mean I am guaranteed to fail.
I scheduled fro april 1, so I will let you know how it goes. Have faith in God and yourself. Nothing is impossible, even the CPA!
I scheduled mine for April 27th. I'm still restudying REG for next Friday, so I have barely cracked the FAR book. what I did read, I wasn't too thrilled with, and I'm anxious to get started. I guess next Saturday, if I decide to not take a break.
Good luck on the 26th glutenator. You should definitely take a break. FAR is a beast and you need be charged and ready before tackling it. I'm hanging by a thread, my diligence is rapidly winding down. REG is tomorrow and I can't wait to be done (hopefully passed as well). I haven't taken more than a few days off since September 1st. A good break should get you ready to take on FAR.
Zena,
Good luck on REG tomorrow!!
I just filed for my NTS for FAR and will be scheduling to take the exam by May 5th at the latest. I'm using Becker and F1 wasn't bad last week, but I'm working on F2 now and it's killer! It seems that I have forgotten SO much since taking the exam last April...hoping it gets easier from here...
Good luck everybody!
How intensive are the calculations on FAR???
I feel like crap! I just found out I failed after 2 1/2 months of intense studying. I don't know what more I can do that I didn't already do. Start from scratch, I guess. I will retake it at the end of May. The thought of taking that Becker book out again makes me sick to my stomach.
I hate FAR!
Don't Worry CPAwannabe, I see that you are close to getting a 75. However, the worst part is that you have to study for this monster again. I will be taking this section on april 30 for the time and dont feel too good about it. Also, the feeling of opening that book again is very sick and I agree with you on that because I had failed my first exam (BEC with a 73).
How often does Becker update their homework questions? I dont really want to bother paying for the becker promise if i'm going to be using the same questions. I need new material to study. I am taking FAR tomorrow.. I feel good about it but I am worried nevertheless. The only thing that sucks more than studying for FAR is failing and having to do it again.
I would suggest that anyone thinking about taking the CPA exams read the book "You Can Pass the CPA Exam" by Debra R. Hopkins. I could have saved myself a lot of grief had I read that book before I started this CPA process!
FAR is unlike any other exam that I have ever taken. There is no memorization in FAR (financial accounting). Additionally, the material in FAR just never ends. I do not think that my college covered 40% of the material in FAR. College was a piece of cake compared to these CPA exams.
You have to understand the concepts in FAR. That is the reason that I took notes. I divided Yaeger's review program (14 DVDs) into the 26 subjects that he covered.
If you failed FAR with Becker, may I suggest a different approach? Buy Yaeger homestudy for only $345 with the discount. That is what I did after I failed FAR. I felt like I climbed Mount Everest after I passed on the second try.
@75 CPA: Good call.. I hope that I will bag FAR after tomorrow, as this is already my 2nd attempt. If i don't pass, I will pickup Yaeger for a fresh perspective on the material. You're certainly right, its an immense amount of material. I've spent about 65 hours over the past 8 days cramming on top of my preparation for the past 6 weeks so I hope this will be sufficient lol
I am planning on FAR 4/2. I have been studying since 1/6/10. I have the Wiley book and the Gleim software. I have been studying AUD since '07 so studying FAR again was tuff. I have forgotten a lot. This will be my second attempte at FAR. I bombed FAR in '07 (a score not even close enough to 75 to be worth mentioning) using Becker. I failed six exams with them (AUD x3, FAR x1, Reg x1, BEC x1). And I was an excellent accounting student - I swear! Never made sense to me why I wasn't passing until I read Debra's book and it opened my eyes to what it takes to pass and gave me the inspiration to keep going. :O)
My other biggest problem is waiting for results for AUD (the 7 week 2 day) (sat 1/5). Very distracting while you are trying to study.
I am going to be taking FAR 4/12. I feel pretty good about the sections I have covered. I am on F6 (2009 Becker review). There is a lot of information in this section compared to the other sections. I know of one person that took it at the end of January and got an 87. He said he didn't study THAT much. He said the exam was more theory than calculations compared to Becker. We will see. Does anyone who passed have any advice on this section or anyone who is retaking it.
REG-89 BEC-83 FAR-4/12 AUD-Retake
Mine was more theory, but next time it could be the opposite. I also thought my questions were easier than Becker's but they must not have been that easy. I probably didn't see their sneaky little tricks.
@CPAWannabe & futureCPA:
I am really hoping for heavy concept testing tomorrow.. while I don't mind calculations, I find that I have a tendency to rush and forget little stuff (such as net of tax) etc. The first time I took FAR it was mostly concepts but I was woefully underprepared -- which was entirely my fault
One thing that really aggravates me about Becker is that the homework questions are easy.. but the final exam questions are almost overwhelmingly hard sometimes. I don't understand why there is such a disparity in difficulty...
I have started to swear the test is psychic - what you didn't study / study twice or review right before - that is what they test. :O)
