    Hi,

I took Far Test on may, and I failed it miserably ashamed to say I got 40 though I almost studied most of the time and attended the lectures using Becker.

I no longer know what to do and feel quite lost. I spend to much time preparing studying but I failed. should I just give up ?

I work for the big 4. but this exam result made me less confidant as I go.

the gap is big and not small it is quite difficult to go back again when you are not sure if you are going to pass.

I need some advise to be able to get back to myself. or get motivated or decide to give up.

I know what you feel. I studied as a full-time for months and failed. You are not alone. After I failed the exam I was so heartbroken that I joined this forum & actively read other successful stories to get some hope back.

If you are too sick of doing Becker again I would recommend using other materials such as Ninja notes and MCQ.

I decided not to take Far exam until I score high in Ninja MCQ because MCQ score is gonna represent your exam score pretty much if you read the post “Ninja MCQ vs. Actual exam”

So keep practicing don't lose your hope!

How were you doing on the mcq? Did you attempt the sims? What was your study schedule like? Did you listen to the lectures and take notes etc? Share your study patterns and others can provide advice. Don't let one failure keep you from giving up. You already work for B4 they will want you to become a CPA plus they're paying for it. So take advantage of the opportunity and don't give up.

yes I will share my study plan. I used to take 10 days per chapter 3 hours a day and do all MCQs. 3 hours in weekend. I went through all lectures then began with the mcq. i didn't do sims but i practiced based on sims format.

i don't take note but i do revision at the end for all the chapters.

i sort of felt at the exam that i did nothing and studied nothing everything went blank and i didn't remember even the basic!

this is reflected in my score also.

If I were you, I would study whole chapters like I have never studied Far before. Your score indicates you need more in dept knowledge. I think that happens when you repeat stuff. Unless you are in hurry to be licensed, take your time and study from the beginning. But I know it is so frustrating!

After reviewing whole chapters do Ninja MCQs over and over again until you score 80ish. Then I guess you will pass!

I studied with Wiley, felt like I could never see the book again so bought Ninja mcq and I think Ninja is great.

On NINJA MCQ is that 80's trending or average?

My average is very low, 47, but my trending is 65.

Does that mean I keep going until trending is higher, but

average is not moving up much.

shebo, I know how you feel. You have been punched in the gut and you feel like giving up. You wonder if its even worth trying again. But I'm here to tell you, You Can Do This. You work for the Big 4 which is a plus, I took and passed my exams with no experience and relying on knowledge mainly from my study material.

Since you didn't absorb what you needed from Becker, I would suggest a different study material, for instance Roger CPA or Ninja. Consider Becker as the foundation from where you started and build upon that by learning from a different point of view from other study materials.

My tears, pity, disappointed and frustration lasted for one day when I received my 67 in FAR using Roger CPA. The next day I was so bad and fired up, I was DETERMINED to UNDERSTAND this material within the next 2 months. So I changed the way the material was presented to me and used Becker textbook, Ninja notes, Flashcards and MCQ (This included making notes from Becker, rewriting Ninja notes and taking notes from MCQ). It took me a long time to get through everything of course, my time was running out and so I didn't practice my simulations like I did my MCQ.

End result, taking the exam I felt good answering the MCQ but not great with my simulations. Passed with a perfect 75! Efficiency at its best, lol.

So to reiterate, change the study material so that it's presented in a new light and make enough time for practice Ninja MCQ AND Simulations.

Oh, and make sure you a choosing the time of day to take the exam when you are most alert and have a more active brain. I always test better at 5pm but reluctantly had to take my exam at 3pm last time with FAR. Take 5 -10 deep breaths during the 10mins of instructions before starting the exam to get that oxygen flowing to the brain and to help calm your nerves.

    Good Luck!!
