    NINJA Question –

Starting to study for FAR. Using Roger CPA. Going to try to do it in 6 weeks.

This is the plan as I understand it: please feel free to comment, or offer advice.

N – Nail the videos. Roger has 32 hours of videos.

Time element – If I take 25 hours per week I should be done with these in about 1 1/2 weeks.

I- Intense Note – I can either take notes from the videos as I watch a second time, or take notes directly from the Roger Study book. These can be taken alone or inside the NINJA notes for FAR.

Time element: 1-1/2 weeks, maybe a tad longer?

N- Non-Stop MCQs- this is where I go through so many MCQs till I get sick of them.

    Time element- not really sure

J- Just Re-Write it. Where I completely rewrite my notes by hand, to help it sink further into my memory

A – All comes together. This is where I study notes, take MCQ test-lets of 20 questions until I reach 70% consistently; determine my weak areas and concentrate on those, and study my notes every available waking minute I can spare.

Time element: I figure no more than two weeks on this part. Prior posts seem to indicate that if you stretch this part out any longer that you will forget content.

Really want to get get this done in 6 weeks because I want to take BEC before July 4. I have been told that BEC is one of the easier ones and can be done in 5 weeks.

Is there anything I have forgotten? Don’t want to get halfway through and discover I have left something out!

    Thanks.

    Marc

    FAR- Late May 2014

    BEC- Before July 4 2014

    REG- Late August, 2014

    AUD- Early October 2014

Oh honey, I like your timeline. I wish I could follow exactly as you laid it out.

From my own experience, I would advise you to first stick to one part for now. Make your study plans, stick to them, schedule, and then take the test. As soon as you exit the testing center, plan for your next part to attack.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure how fast of a reader you are, but unless you are studying full time I don't think you can get through the FAR book AND take notes on it in only 1-2 weeks. It is one big book and depending on your review materials it may be two big books. I would add another week to the taking notes portion if you plan on taking notes on your reading. I suggest maybe reading the book without taking notes and then take notes as your work through your MCQs. Combine your notes into the Ninja Notes when you rewrite them or as you are going through the MCQ. The issue that I have seen a lot of people have when they take notes on the videos or on the book is that their notes are so detailed that it's just too overwhelming.

FYI Roger's 2014 FAR videos are more like 40 hours. Per his PDF “TOTAL COURSE TIME ==> 41 hours, 14 minutes, 32 seconds*” (I forget where I got it, but it's on his site somewhere) .

That is just the videos, not including reading the book, and doing the MCQs in back of each chapter.

Do not forget to factor those in.

By going through his videos/resources twice, that is easily 100 hours on just his course.

I could not have done it without NINJA MCQs.

    Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

CPAMommyof3, Started taking notes on the videos, and within 2 hours realized I couldn't come close to finishing taking notes so detailed.

Good luck on your 4/12/14 FAR Exam!

I started taking notes from the video and found that it was taking me too much time for one section.

I am actually considering using the Ninja Notes and updating them as I do MCQ's and SIMs. Does that sound more efficient? Any advice would really be helpful. I really wanna start getting a routine down but its hard to find the right one.
