I heard first year staff can’t use PTO during their first year at big4. Is this true?

Not true at all. You just can't take PTO during busy season.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    FAR - 78

Never heard of such a thing from my Big 4 buddies. Some are at PwC, others in EY, and they had PTO in their first year. If I recall it was a month off. Anyways, I'm not in Big 4 but I clearly remember they took time off.

They probably meant it's very tough to find available time in between client schedules on a practical basis… not literally “You can't take the vacation stated in your offer letter.”

Do you accrue PTO hours at Big 4? If so, you probably won't have enough to take off in the first year — based on a fall/late summer start.

Almost always from my phone... please excuse my typos!

You are allowed to go negative – at least at PwC
