I’m a little confused on the business law requirements for the CPA exam. I got an email today regarding my application for the CPA exam and it stated “Deficient 3 semester hours of business law. Please do not take Business Law, Business Law I, or Legal Environment of Business as they duplicate course already taken.” I did obviously take the business law within the accounting major. I graduated this past spring with a bachelors in accounting.

I did take 2 BUL classes. One was 2000 level and the other was 4000 level. However, I'm not sure if the 2000 level was taken into consideration. Should it be?

Call them and explain. They may have made a mistake if you think you have the requirements.

    FAR - 08/30/15 - 90
    AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
    REG - 01/19/16 - 82
    BEC - 02/29/16 - 83

Passed all on 1st attempt using GLEIM (full program) and NINJA (MCQ only)!!!

From the looks of it, the 2000 class probably wouldn't count. You'll have to specifically do B Law 2. I had to take B Law 2 in my “120 – 150 hour” class load.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

Hey, heat02, find the closest class to BLAW that they did not count towards BLAW and send them a syllabus for that class. Another candidate has had success here in CO where they decided to give her credit for a class they did not initially after she sent the syllabus. Good luck!
