I posted this in another thread, but for anyone who didn’t get a chance to see, thought this might help.

A good friend told me this parable which really helped, which I have altered just a bit.

“I was walking through the woods one day. I heard a banging sound coming from the distance. I followed the noise and eventually found where it came from. I see a man trying to chop down a tree with a large axe. Interested, as I have never witnessed this before, I decided to stay and watch. After a while, I notice the cut has not been getting any deeper.

I ask the man ‘Why does this appear to not be working?’ He responds ‘I wish you could tell me! I have been trying to cut this tree for days. My wife and kids are waiting for me to come home, but this job must be done!’

I respond ‘Why don’t you rest a while, then get back to it after you see them?’ He replies ‘If I stop, then the work won’t get done! I can’t stop in the middle!’.

So I look at the tree, at his axe, then back to him. ‘But if you rest, and sharpen your axe, you can get back in. Your muscles will be rested, your axe will be sharper. You will focus better.’ He turns to me and says ‘I think I’ll take your advice’.

So the man left with his axe. Spent time with his family, sharpened his axe. Two days later the man returned, and he found he was much more efficient at cutting down this tree.”

Test Sunday!!

Gosh, this happened to me. I just took the day off of work to study. I haven't been full bore at it all day. But I do feel more refreshed since I'm not studying after a long day of work. Hopefully, recharge today and tomorrow and then have it on Sunday.

@OnMyWay732 – That's not the story I heard. The story I heard was that after two days, the man went back to his family only to find his Cold Dinner on the Table and an empty house..

Apparently the wife was fed up with him leaving and not coming home for days at a time. So she left him and took the kids to stay with her mother.

Especially when she was the one who told him a million times that he would get the job done faster if he just actually sharpened his axe and taken a rest. Only he had listened to a stranger instead.
