For Those That Took FAR in Q2 2014

For those that took FAR in the second quarter of 2014, was the exam what you expected it to be? Did you receive more conceptual questions and less calculations than you thought you would, or vice-versa? Did the exam questions touch on multiple topics/chapters, or was there a lot that you didn’t see? I am not asking for specifics (due to disclosure rules) but just general responses to these questions. Thanks and good luck to all studying.

OMG! Yes I was expecting way more Calcs and Near death Sims and I didn't get either which is freaking me out a little to be honest. I thought to myself as I walked out of there … There is no way I passed, it just seemed way too simple! As for the testlets getting harder, I reviewed what the AICPA deems “hard” and I definitely got those types .. So who knows but definitely prepared for a lot worse than I got

Definitely felt like I got an easy exam. But time will tell… my score comes out in 9 days. Been waiting since 4/21!!!

I had the same experience as bronxbombers2!

It seemed like an easy exam which is totally ridiculous… I know right?!

Waiting anxiously to see the score and ruin my memorial day weekend.

My MCQ's were tough and lengthy! Most were calculations with few conceptual questions sprinkled here and there. I barely had time to review my answer or redo the calculation coz I wanted to have enough time for the SIMS. The SIMS were much doable and in the end, I had like 10 minutes to spare. Make sure you are familiar with all the material.

2nd testlet was very math heavy and hard, 3rd testlet was pretty conceptually heavy and hard. I'm not actually sure if my third testlet was a “difficult” testlet though so I've been a little stressed out about my performance on that.

Sims weren't too bad except for one that I guessed a lot on. Pretty wide range of topics all around, including one topic that Becker covered in two pages that showed up repeatedly… but thankfully I looked at it the day beforehand and think I nailed everything related to it.

IIRC, the general consensus in the FAR exam topic is that the MCQs were easy and the sims were hard.

Honestly, I could get anywhere between like a 65-95 and think, “Yeah, I guess I could see how that makes sense.”

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

@JamesBJames: Haha I TOTALLY agree. Like if I fail I'll think “that was too easy, I must have overlooked a lot”, or “wow, it really WAS that easy!” I hate this feeling, I'd rather have a better idea of how I fared.
