Hey! The NINJAs are giving away 3 pair of Powerbeats 2 Wireless earbuds – your choice of color.

In the video, I said that they were $200-$300, but they’re actually $150-ish (the mall walker distracted me, I think and I was thinking of the over-the-ear headphones). SO … I’ll give away 3 pair instead of 1.

To Enter: Post your best advice or “tip” for anything CPA Exam or accounting related…it can be CPA Exam, Busy Season, Resume, Big 4, Interview, Getting Hired/Fired, etc. Please label your tip.

    Example:

[CPA Exam Tip]: Always take the 1pm exam – never the 8am. You’ll have more time to study and there’s no risk of oversleeping

    or

[Big 4 Tip]: During networking events – don’t be the dude throwing back the beers. Nurse it. You can pound beers later when it won’t matter if you make a fool out of yourself.

    etc.

**Please do NOT post something like “buy company ____ and you’ll pass” … that’s spam, not a tip***

(Unless it’s NINJA – then NINJA spam is always welcome, encouraged, and appreciated.)

Who Wins? On Friday (1/29 – deadline to enter is 12pm Eastern), I will randomly pick three posters from this thread. I’ll use the RANDBETWEEN function in excel to pick the post(s).

No purchase required to enter…void where prohibited…must be 18 to win, etc.

I will also toss in a NINJA Audio of the winners’ choice – since it goes so well with the earbuds 🙂

One entry per person, please 🙂

[CPA Exam Tip]: You can never do enough practice MCQs. Unless its 2 or 3am, then go to bed and do more tomorrow.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Take your exam Monday afternoons. This gives you the weekend to have a final review. It is also less stressful when you take it right after the weekend rather than after a long work week.

[CPA Exam Tip] Buy ninja MCQ! it's the best bang for your buck and the exam questions are very similar to the test bank. Also, your trending score is pretty indicative of how you'll actually do on the test (and confidence is half the battle). I personally passed 3/4 exams on the first time using ninja mcq after starting out my cpa journey failing FAR 3 times. It got me over the hump and can very well do the same for you.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Do endless MCQ's but use more than one test bank so that you do not just memorize the answers to the questions.

    I'm in!

    [CPA Exam Review Tip]

I know for a lot of CPA candidates, money is tight. NINJA MCQs are by far the best value in the way of CPA review materials, and there is nothing that will exclusively better prepare you for the CPA exam than NINJA MCQs. This is not a paid advertisement! Although, it could be if I win. 🙂

Here's another one for the heck of it.

    [CPA Exam Tip]

I had always heard to place a copy of your Notice To Schedule (“NTS”) in your car's glove compartment, so there would be no way you would forget to bring it with you to the testing center. When you're only a few hours away from taking your test, it's very easy to forget this little important document since you have so much other stuff on your mind.

[CPA Exam Tip]: If you forget your NTS, make sure you can quickly pull it up in your email. I forgot it once and they were kind enough to let me show them the email.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Don't get your NTS too soon (like I do). Wait until you feel you are actually ready to test to get the NTS and schedule a test date. That way you aren't taking it unprepared just because hit the end of the six month window and don't want to waste the money.

When going to any networking event or for everyday studies, carry printed business cards with you. You can purchase blank precut cards at an office supply store. You don't need anything fancy or don't get too cute with it. The cards will get the job done. The executices would rather receive your resume later but the business card is your first foot in the door.

[CPA Exam Study Tip]: When working MCQs, jot down important information from the explanation and go back and review these at least once before exam day.

[CPA Exam Tip]: When you actually decide that you're ready to kill yourself over the exams- just do it all and don't stop until you're finished. It may be a bloody battle, but you'll be happy when you're done. It must be so much more painful to do it slowly!

[CPA Exam Tip] Do not take “time off” because you passed a section. You only have 18 months and it will go quickly. Just keep studying and get them all done as fast as you can.

[Big 4 Tip]: Always get a card of any person you are networking with, from any firm. People at these events are there to represent the firm and are looking for eager candidates who take initiative. I have gone to various recruiting events for my firm, and talked to 10 to 20 students one on one, and only have one or two students email me after the event to just say hi or to follow up on something to talk about.

There are two benefits of this: 1) the recruiting department will specifically ask for feedback on students who are strong candidates for the firm, and if you stay in touch your name will be at the top of the list. 2) You've just earned a contact at the firm who can also be a resource for many other things in accounting field, CPA exam etc.

[CPA Exam Study Tip]: Make a study schedule and stick to it. The more time you spend studying (reading your notes, working MCQ, rewriting your notes) the better your percentages of passing the exam. The most important thing that I have learned about the cpa exam is that it is truly a test of perseverance more so than intelligence. So keep on keeping on Ninjas!

[CPA Exam Tip]; Stick to a workout routine if it's something you enjoy. If you enjoy running, go for a run! I said for awhile “why exercise when I should be studying” and would end up stress-eating. Even a walk-break helps clear your mind, keeps you feeling good.
