FAR re-take – Please Help!

This is my scenario…..I failed FAR in July. So the earliest I can possibly take it again is October. However, I’m out of town the last 10 days of September so taking the exam very beginning of October might not be the smartest. Also, October is quarter-end, so I probably shouldn’t test until the end of October or beginning of November after the chaos of board meetings and what not for my client.

I know it’s not the best to have such a long period of study/review time, but I’m also slower and thorough in my study habits (typically). I work full-time. How should I prepare for my re-take and when would you take it if you were me? Your guys’ advice is SUPER HELPFUL!! Thannnkkkss guys!

Sounds like you know your situation for the next couple of months pretty well and know what type of commitment you will be able to have. If it is unrealistic to study while out of town and you will be too busy at work, you should probably hold off until late-October/early-November.

I'm typically slower at studying and work full-time as well. I have FAR scheduled for 10/4 and my last test was 7/19. Sometimes it takes me longer to grasp concepts and sometimes I can't study after a bad/stressful day at work and need a break. I also have my anniversary trip planned for Sept 25-29 and hoping it doesn't put a dent in my study process (the books are coming with)!

Cmertes, is this a re-take or are you taking a new section?

A retake from a year ago, so pretty much treating it as fresh. Although, 7/19 was a retake from 5/26 and I treated it as fresh because you don't just need say 10 points, you need 75. I did go through sections I was more comfortable with faster, but each test you take, the goal is to study for 75+ not 10 “more”.

Very true. I agree with that. Thanks for sharing! Does anyone else have some advice for me about how to prepare for FAR again?

use small chunk of time each day and you will surprise how much you can memorize those materials.

I make my own flash card on Brainscape and upload to my iphone. i studies on my way to work, and that helps me a lot. for FAR, please spend some quality time on memorizing those J/Es.

    BEC - 77
    FAR - 69, 70, 76
    REG - Waiting
    AUD - Jan 2015

    Just Do It.

Thanks for the advice Mr. Must Pass. I agree. I'm just going to have to do at least a little bit every day and really learn and memorize the material.
