I am doing it the NINJA way. I have seen all videos. Now I am doing MCQs with “a focused frenzy”. What do you do when you can’t get focused frenzied? What do you do when you’re are feeling frustrated because it takes 2 hours to go through 30 MCQs, get 50% right, end up feeling clueless, and don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel????

    FAR - 04/15/13 70 - 07/02/13 79!!!
    AUD - 08/19/13 84 🙂
    REG - 10/14/13
    BEC - 11/29/13

I feel you. I passed AUD and BEC but I feel like FAR is harder than BEC and AUD combined.

@syllo You keep doing the MC until you get it. You might want try breaking the MC into smaller amounts such as 20-25. Label the problems and write out the anwers in detail.

    Good Luck!

Just keep plodding along. It's all you can do. I remember it took me over 3 hours to get through the 90 MCQs that were in the first F2 lecture. It was miserable. FAR is misery in general and there's no way around it. The only chapters of FAR where I didn't want to completely stab my eyes out with my pencil and/or highlighter were the government/NFP chapters (F8/F9). They are not that difficult when compared to the rest of the material (in my opinion). All you can do is keep doing and redoing the MCQs. Keep reading and rereading the book. It seems hopeless at times, but you'll look back on it in six weeks or so and feel so much more confident.

MC no way near what you study in the book and lecture

so you have to take them like on study mode & for me i don't write them ,just take a note about the concept

when I start FAR every computational MC takes from me about 6 or 7 minutes or even more sometimes

Now I'am on F9 and I notice the difference, but still have to improve myself more and more

    Always remember

    “FAR is like a marathon”

and how you go to a marathon ?

    training ,exercise ,practice ,workout

that is what you have to do to pass FAR

and about the 50% problem ,in the first two or three chapters, i get easily trapped with Becker MCQs

But now I'am worried about wordier MCs,may be because I'am International student and English is my 2nd language

so even in my writing I feel there is a lot of grammar mistakes and I am a little worried about WC in BEC

Keep going and you will be good

    good luck

I am cognizant of the fact that the vast majority of people think of FAR as either the most difficult or second most difficult, but I actually didn't find it that bad at all. AUD, on the other hand, is generally viewed as either the easiest or second easiest, and I'll bet that's going to be more of a challenge for me. I enjoy doing problems and working out solutions and while I generally memorize well, I find it extremely mundane to do so. This is just another illustration of the concept that it really depends on the person.

With that said, my opinion regarding FAR is that people view it as tough not due to the difficulty of the material, but rather of the expansiveness of what you need to cover. However, think about it… it should also be the section that contains the material to which most people have had the most exposure. Just break it down and build on your strengths. Then make sure that you are at least sufficient with everything else.

I agree with Keely with respect to government and not-for-profit… they're two sections that are relatively basic. However, it's not like there is a lot of extremely difficult topics covered. Following the outline of the Wiley review book… most of the modules are not bad at all. The modules that I found relatively difficult were pensions and business consolidations. Everything else isn't that bad. It's just a lot.

I apologize if I am rambling a little bit (maybe too much wine?!?) but what I'm trying to get across is that it's not THAT difficult of a test. It's just a lot of information. Again, build on your strengths and make sure that you can get all the possible points in those areas… then work on your weaknesses to improve to a satisfactory level. Remember, a 75 score doesn't equate to getting 75 percent of the questions correct… your raw score can be significantly worse than 75 and you can still pass.

Good luck to all of you with FAR… you can do it!

@OP i feel your pain. I'm about hallfway through the Far material and it's taking me about an hour to do 20 questions on average. That includes making notecards and referencing the wiley text. This is my 2nd time through (took far in 2011) and the one thing I learned is to that I need to go at my own pace. Last time I tried to get through far on a standard time frame and when I got to the end I realized I didn't really learn the material. This time I'm just concentrating on learning the material…however long it takes. looks like it's going to take me about 10 weeks to get through the material, and 2 weeks to review.

Do you have the ninja audio? I'm finding it extremely helpful.

    FAR - F (2011), 5/16
    AUD - F(2011)

2nd attempt at this thing. Time to get serious.

I'm 90% done with the Becker FAR book and I've got to say, it was rough. ALL of the chapters have their own little trickiness embedded within…the best thing to do is to just power through the MCQs to learn the material. Reading the chapter helps, but I think doing the MCQs is where the real learning happens. Granted I haven't taken a section of the exam yet, but I feel like I understand the material better after doing the MCQs.

I remember going through the questions the first time through and doing terrible – I'm talking like 65-70%. But I used it as a learning experience. I would read through the answers and understand why I got a particular question wrong. Going through the questions a second time was must more of a confidence booster because I actually worked through the problems and understood them. I remember staring at bond questions and not knowing where to begin…now I read bond questions and they aren't so bad.

I have to say, it's a combination of both reading the book AND doing the MCQs. I always read my book cover to cover at least four or five times throughout the course of studying for an exam. I would take my weekends or ‘off' days from studying to lay by the pool and read a few chapters and take notes. It really helped my understanding of the material. MCQs are just as important. But don't discount the reading! One without the other is not nearly as effective.
