Getting over the Hump

I just received my AUD score this morning. I got a dreaded 72. I have tried multiple CPA review courses to improve my scores without results. I found the Ninja products about three weeks before my AUD NTS was set to expire. I am glad I did even with a short amount of time to study after busy season I increased my AUD score by 14 points. I am disappointed in my score but I am encouraged I have FINALLY found the right materials.

I am scheduled to take FAR at the end of August. Should I take the AUD section in the beginning of October since the material is still fresh? Any suggestions on getting over the hump?

I would suggest focusing on two tests at a time and knocking them out. Once you knock out one, add another to the rotation. So yes, Audit next would be good. I bet you'll pass AUD once you master FAR since FAR tends to sneak into a lot of AUD questions based on the practice questions I've seen. 🙂

I would definitely recommend jumping back into AUD after you finish FAR. My only suggestion would be to start from scratch with AUD as if you had never studied before (if you have lecture videos I may skip those and spend time reading through your notes instead). If you have 2 different study materials available and plan to use them I would push through the alternate material quickly making sure to keep a Word document or something available to record notes on ANY weak area you identify and then spend the rest of my time working through the Ninja AUD MCQs. Additionally, with AUD it was VERY important for me to take my time and really focus on each question and try to explain to myself why each answer option was right or wrong because with AUD it was not uncommon for me to find questions with multiple answers that could be correct but not “most correct.” Save yourself at least a few days before the exam to LEARN your identified weak areas. Good luck!

I am entertaining the idea of t re-taking audit and taking FAR and REG all by October while working 20 hours a week. Do you think this is possible?

I really need to try my hardest to pass FAR and REG asap because I start work at a Big 4 on September 30 and I really don't want those two over my head while I'm working.

    Any advice?

    FAR 68, 79 (11/9/15)
    REG 75 (6/21/16)

You shouldn't be working at all if you are trying to meet that deadline. CPA is a full time job on its own.

I don't have the luxury of not working. Just trying to do the best with what time I have. I'm set to take FAR August 28 and hopefully REG October 17.

I guess I'll be retaking AUD some time in early 2016.

    AUD 74, 82 (11/29/15)
    FAR 68, 79 (11/9/15)
    REG 75 (6/21/16)
    BEC 75 (1/18/16)

One thing I learned was not to rush too much. I'd focus on one section (two at the very most) at a time. Unless you are a super genius (not me…that's for sure), what is the rush? People pass this exam all the time while having a full-time job working 40+ hours plus a family and raising kids. I have two theories to this CPA madness. A) If you rush through the material just to get done…then you aren't learning the material as well, hence you won't retain much of the material for when you actually need it at your job and B) Go at your own pace…there is no reward for who can finish the exam the quickest.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your retake!
