I just finished up F2 with Becker and already feeling very discouraged with FAR in general.. I feel pretty good after the lectures and taking notes but then I am barely getting 60s on the MCQ because they seem like they are on a way other level of difficulty. I passed REG and am waiting for my score back for AUD (which I felt pretty confident about). Is anyone else in or was in the same boat? I bought Ninja MCQ for REG and AUD and am definitely planning on doing the same for FAR. Hoping that will help once I start reviewing but I can’t help but feel really discouraged so far. I have it scheduled for August 1. All comments/tips are highly appreciated!

I think FAR is a hard exam to study for. I am having the same issues as you. I felt like what I read in the book wasn't enough information for the questions that followed. I have even gotten to the point where I am basically just studying by answering MCQs and writing down the explanations on what I got wrong, making notes about stuff I know I need to dig deeper on, and making sure I understand why my answers are right.

I do most of my learning from missing MCQ and looking at the explanations. I go back into the book and find the applicable material that if I would've known I would've gotten the answer correct and I write it down in a spiral notebook. This seems to really help me. The only downside is it takes a lot of time.

It literally drained my soul and I still didn't feel comfortable with F2 going into the exam. You really have to push through with FAR and literally take it one day at a time. While your studying, constantly do progress reports on Becker just to kind of keep your brain working, even if you keep missing questions don't feel discouraged! …btw, did you think Ninja MCQ helped with Audit? Taking my exam in about a month and idk if I should really just focus on Becker or try and find time to squeeze in Ninja question.

While all sections of the exam are tough, I definitely struggled the most with FAR.Going through the material, just when I'd think things couldn't possibly get any worse…they always did! I literally felt like crying everyday while studying for FAR. Ha! I didn't feel confident about any of it until probably a week before my exam. The only thing I can really tell you is that at some point, things will start to come together…just keep at it! Best of luck!
June 16, 2016 at 11:24 pm #782050kylsimParticipantThanks everyone 🙂 I am just going to take it day by day.
Justkeepswimming – I thought that the Audit CPA Exam was not very difficult at all.. I believe that the Ninja MCQ definitely helped with that, but I do not think they are necessary if you feel as if you have a good grasp on the information with just solely Becker.

I posted a similar thread last week about it and I will paste the link here in case you want to skim through it, theres a good amount of helpful advice on the thread that I got from some people but the best thing to do is just to stick it out with F2 and continue on. I just finished F4 today and felt much more comfortable about F3 and F4 than I do about F2 and I went through all homework MCQs for F2 once. Here's a link if you're interested:
Good luck!
June 16, 2016 at 11:48 pm #782052KJParticipantFAR is the beast of all!! I am taking my re-take in July. My first time I spent too much time preparing for it almost 10 weeks. The reason I did that was because I took the college courses 2 years ago and I thought I would need if not 6 but at least 8 weeks to study for it. Then I ended up with almost close to 10 weeks (due to some personal reasons). I started my review 4 weeks before my exam and I had forgotten lot of material from before. I felt dejected and then enter into final review 2 weeks before my exam. I think I lacked more on conceptual part and started to remember most of MCQ's which was probably my downfall for failing the exam.
I have only 1 month for my re-take and I am behind (again due to personal reasons). Well, I am not going to say it will be an excuse but I am not quitting for sure even if I fail again. If I don't pass during this re-take I am going to take FAR as my last exam then. Just keep pounding MCQ's and make sure you understand the concept and computations will come easily. I am referring back to my Intermediate accounting book if needed to understand some of the stuff if I don't understand.
Yes, at time you will feel horrible, dejected, crying but one thing we (all future CPA's) is NOT QUIT!!
We can do it!! LETS GO NINJA's!!!!

June 17, 2016 at 12:17 am #78205374phoenixParticipantStick to it! I am starting F8…..my strategy is: pull up Becker E-book, read the chapter on the screen – jot down the notes / things they highlight and write down, and really read the material. Listen to the lectures if it's a particularly confusing topic or example. After each section, I attempt the MCQ!
for MCQ, I attempt the question for a solid minute. Try to eliminate 2 answers. Guess on the correct one. Google to see if I am correct. If I am really clueless, I google the question right away, select the correct answer, and read as many explanations of it as I can find!
This has allowed me to soak up more rules / pass keys in less time! I also create a word doc of MCQ that really stumped me so I can go over them the week before the test. Sometimes before MCQ I skim the section again to make sure I absorb more info.
For simulations, I have my book out in front of me and try to find similar questions or journal entries or anything to help me! If I am stuck on how to begin, I check the solution to see what they expect from me. I fill out as much info as I can, and then look at the solution and work through it again with the correct numbers! I print out the solutions for the sims I found really difficult so the week before the exam I will practice them!
This is my study technique. Along with a lot of prayers, calming music or upbeat music on Youtube.

ive been F stdying for it for 6 months due to nasba screwing up my nts and kept telling me i needed more credits even after they told me i was good to go twice..
i took 3 weeks off in may just cause i thought i was good..went back and forgot half the stuff so had to do a real quick cram of all sections..
the more you go through the lectures 3-4 times and problems 3-4 times the more it sticks..i thought i had a great grasp but their was a ton i forgot..small details..

I don't know if you done your research around here but F2 is the hardest chapter in becker. Scores in the 50s and 60s in that section the first time around is really normal!!! Everyone has a hard time with it. It is notorious. Don't worry, just power through and you will pass. Felt the same way you did but I went through the material, purchased the final review for far and that helped me a lot and I passed!
I am taking REG in a month or so and I am freaking out. I am afraid it is going to be harder for me than FAR…any tips for reg???

And I averaged in the 60's my first time out in pretty much every chapter. I thought that was normal? Don't sweat it unless your test is tomorrow.
