I couldn’t believe it one point away to be done with this nightmare. I am a Mom of three children with a husband that travels all of the time.

I don’t think I can keep doing this all over again. I am breaking down here. I need some encouragement words and advice.

One stinking test?!?! I just got my 74 on FAR as well, and that was a real punch in the face! My wife was crying and said this is worse than we could ever imagined, we have a baby #2 due on June 30, so i'm stuck with the decision of studying with a new born, or taking the summer off. A real no-win situation.

Either way it's going to suck.

    A) I'm “checked out” for another 2 months, (54 weeks into this SoB), sucks for wife and baby # 1

    B) I give up and hate my life forever.

You will regret quitting, particularly after being 1 lousy point away. I was back on the horse in less than 48 hours, and i'm going to crush BEC's balls in 4 weeks and have that last dance with FAR ahead of me. No one is stopping me!

That being said, i'm not INSANE, and i'll be enjoying those precious first two months with new baby, and taking FAR in August.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

why would you give up? you are almost done with it. 74 means you are lacking some understanding in one or two topics. I know its frustating but no way you should think about giving up. Material is still fresh in your head and you can do it before your reg expires. get it done!!! good luck

There is no way you can quit now. I got two 74s on Audit and yes…I was ticked….but realized since I was so close I COULD do it. Don't waste all the time, money, and energy you've already put in this thing.

@MKCPA – DO NOT GIVE UP! You are so close! i understand your frustration! you have passed 75% of this test, do not allow FAR to keep you from the license that you have already dedicated 2 years of time and money and effort into. A 74! you are so close, pick yourself up, go over what you arent fully comfortable with and GUT PUNCH THAT TEST! You are such a role model for going through this exam with 3 children, do not give up. keep studying, take the exam in July and then you will be done!

With a 74. Do a ten point combo and retake before your other score expires. You got this.

You've got this. You said you don't lose REG until August. Go ahead and get FAR scheduled for July or August, brush up on your weak topics (you probably have some idea what they are), review your strong topics for good measure, and kick FAR's nasty butt.

You can do this! I can relate to how you are feeling! I have two kids and up until two months ago, my husband was traveling all the time. It is rough! But a 74 on FAR is sooo close! Way too close to give up. Schedule FAR for 7/1 get back on the studying and get it done! If you look at my FAR scores, I feel what really boosted my score was rewriting the NINJA notes. I purchased this in overwhelmed desparation a week before my 2nd retake of FAR and it wasn't enough. I was not able to get through rewriting all of them. After my 74 I rewrote all of the NINJA notes, worked on some of my weaker topics and possibly just got lucky. 🙂 I've cried after both passes, there are so many sacrifices made, so much effort and stress. I keep reminding myself it will be worth it… It will be! I just know it.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Giving up is not an option. You have a chance to retake it as your NTS doesn't expire till August. Just review like crazy and take it again.

Good luck and do NOT give up!

I am sure everyone said “NO QUITTING”

You are at the end, go ahead schedule for July and start studying. Go at those MCQ's like never before. Re-write those notes (which ever ones you have). 74 is too close to quit. You got this, cry it out, stomp your feet and just get plain ole mad. It will be worth it in the end, and you'll have a story of a fight to the finish to share with your children. And a great blog to share with the rest of us still fighting.

    You can do this…..good luck.

@MKCPA – I'm not going to take the lid off of the box and let the Ragin' Cajun out. If you need motivation to keep going, you are looking in the wrong place. Normally, I'd say that anyone needing a boost to get off this slow train ride through hell should come here, but honey, you've got all the motivation you need right in front of your face. Look at your kids! Would you ever tell them that it was alright to quit because something was hard to do? Would you ever tell them that it was alright to throw away a dream because of one freaking point? Would you ever tell them that quitting was an option? NO! You wouldn't. If you walk away one passing score short of a license, you will never forgive yourself. Not because of the money or jobs you won't qualify for, but because you taught your kids that quitting is an option. So ask yourself this one question “What am I going to teach my kids? To Quit? or To Fight?” I hope you choose the fight because it's a much better lesson for them to learn. For the record, I spent 5 years on the slow train through hell. I'm a wife, mother, cancer survivor and a CPA, all because I chose to teach my son to fight.

You're managing too much for one person and it is not possible to basically be a single mom to 3 kids (most of the time) AND pass the CPA exam. That is a fact.

But quitting the CPA process is not an option, so here's what you need to do:

find ways to alleviate your other responsibilities! I don't care whether it's hiring a housekeeper one or two days a week (not as expensive as you might think!), using only paper plates and ordering out until you're a CPA, taking people up on their offer to help with your kids, hiring a high school girl as a mothers helper to give you a few hours to study. Let the laundry pile up a bit, let a few cobwebs grow. Its only a few months and I GUARANTEE we will not be seeing you on Hoarders. If you have a peapod or other similar grocery delivery service use it. This is exactly the time to be kind to yourself but NOT the time to give up.

I can seriously give you a list of ways I made my life easier while I was taking the exams. I gave myself a few luxuries that we admittedly couldn't afford but really I couldn't afford NOT to.
