Good moral character

Has anyone had any issues with obtaining their CPA license due to the “good moral character” qualification? Or perhaps have any knowledge on it?

Basically I’m curious because I was charged with a misdemeanor. I can have the charges dropped by successfully going through a program, as this was my first offense (and last). I would like to know how this could possibly impact me after passing the rest of my exams? I’m assuming this may be an issue regarding the “good moral character” qualification of applying for my license. I just don’t want any surprises. By the way, I am applying under NYS

Any help or input would be helpful.

I can't say for certain, but I'm kind of in the same boat (except mine's actually just on the record, couldn't get charge dropped). I asked in Missouri prior to registering for the exams or anything else and they basically said it shouldn't be a problem as long as the charge isn't related to something like theft, embezzlement, fraud, etc. They did say that the state board may want to take an extra step and actually meet with me prior to issuing a license, but that it would not, by itself, be an automatic disqualifier or anything like that. This is obviously just for a misdemeanor though, not a felony offense.

    FAR - 75
    AUD - 72; 87
    REG - 64; 74; 84
    BEC - 88

    Done!!
