got a call from RSM

I applied an assurance associate specialty finance at RSM yesterday and a recruiter gave me a call this morning. I did not expect to hear back so soon because I’m not from target school. I heard that there’s a slim chance to get a job in big firms if you’re not from target school. The recruiter was nice and honest. He said that with 2 yrs experience and half way done with CPA I will get a good shoot but I might not hear back from the RSM in my town (the recruiter is in a regional office). He said he will email me but I have not heard back from him. Anyone had this experience/ work in this position? How did it go? What can I expect?

Did you get his email? If you don't hear back in 3 days or so I would reach out to him again by email or phone. Some firms are better about getting back to people than others.

    Good luck!

MaLoTu; thanks! Can I ask one more question? I'm not really ready to make a move until end of this year. I want to pass FAR before starting a new job. Is that usual that they hire someone 6 months before start date?

I know that for entry-level jobs (associate 1) they will hire in classes. So most get hired in in October/November for a start sometime the next fall/ late summer. If they are contacting you for a entry-level role then I am guessing they will want you to start in August or September.

If it is for a senior role, they may want you within 2 weeks, but I have a lot less experience in that area.
