The feeling of receiving your first Big 4 Tax offer in an excellent Midwest city is amazing. I am so happy! Life has never been better 🙂

Cumulative GPA: 3.47, average state school, 150 credits by May 2016.

I got the verbal offer while I was driving home from my office visit last Friday, less than an hour after I left the office. I received the formal offer today, and I will be accepting it soon. In my opinion, I have average credentials, and below average for the typical Big 4 intern. How is it that people with 3.8+ GPA and every extracurricular in the book don’t even make second round yet someone like me with below average credentials somehow gets an offer?

Regardless, I’m going to relax and enjoy my last 1.75 years in college before life gets real.

Sorry for the ‘humble brag'. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I was under the impression that anything below a 3.5 is considered low for the big 4. I didn't intend to come off as bragging. I'm just really happy.

Does everyone have your transcript during the interview? I've heard some interviewers don't get candidates transcripts before the interview…

Does pwc do this? Haha sorry I'm just super paranoid about them asking about an accounting class I did particularly bad in…

You wanted to share. That's great. There are people we hire with much lower gpa's than yours. If that takes a bit of sparkle away from you, sorry. If anything, you need to get rid of the mentality of comparing yourself to others. Your op reeks of selling yourself short because of imaginary bars in your head, and you some how feel you overcame those imaginary bars to get the job while people who were clearly above those bars didn't. The reality is you fit with the firm and the other people didn't. The end.

I think you're being a little harsh bigfourexpert. Not everyone is an expert on the Big Four and recruiting.

Most people aren't that super into recruiting or company/industry research. For most people, the Big 4 are just the most elite firms that'll take only the best of the best, measured by GPA and extracurricular activities.

    @snargaluff

I was asked to bring a copy of my transcripts to my Deloitte interview, but they didn't have them beforehand.

They also didn't ask about specific classes or anything of that nature, if that helps. I think they just wanted to see something to back up what you've put on your resume.

Using CPAExcel + Wiley Test Bank

    FAR - 76 8/5/2014
    AUD - 84 10/11/2014
    REG - 83 01/02/2015 failed once on 11/26/15 w/ a 72
    BEC - 79 05/30/15

Akvod.. the op made an AMA thread and then in the post basically said “I suck compared to everyone I know, I have no idea how I got this job, but aww yiss <3 life.”

You ask the first question. =P

When I graduated there was a guy who had a 2.9 and went to work for PWC. He was super cool and did a lot of extracurriculars and just really fit their culture and wanted it. That last one might be key. You have to be determined and really want it and convey that.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Had to look up what “AMA” stood for. Man, am I getting old?

Then again, I procrastinate enough already. I don't need Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc in my life.

Multi – No one blamed you for being excited. You just framed the thread in such a weird way. Other people came in here and said the same thing.. your situation isn't anything remarkable or worthy of an AMA. You might as well have just written BOOM GOT IT instead of “I am the authority on how to enter Big4 with a lower GPA” – which just wasn't true.

    Akvod – Yes, you're old.

It's ok Akvod. It took me a few to figure out AMA meant as well.

I'm young enough to figure out what AMA means on my own, but old enough to know that you never take advice from an AMA thread.

It's like the blind leading the blind in here.

@bigfourexpert Again, I apologize for the mistake. After doing a bit more research, you are right. My GPA is not as bad as I initially thought. I guess I should have searched more before creating a new thread claiming to know how to get into Big 4 with a low GPA. Regardless, I will still answer questions about my interviews/credentials if anyone has any inquiries!

So while I definitely feel like that post by peanut should have just been a message to me, and not worthy of a thread, I don't like forums where stuff gets randomly censored by mods without any notices or transparency. For that reason I think I'll leave these forums to you hard studiers. Good luck! (sorry this was the only topical place to write this, congrats again multi)
