Got an offer from a Big Four?

I am currently working at a mid-tier firm in tax department. It has been about 2.5 years since I started there. I do pretty much everything here – both business and individual tax returns. One day I wanted to try something new and bigger so I had interviews with a Big Four and got an offer. The position is a second year staff in a specialized tax group (I would not say which but it’s not general core tax group like federal or state). Since I find that specialized tax area pretty interesting, I applied for a position within that group and got an offer.

Now I need to make a decision to take the offer or not. I am a bit afraid of leaving my current firm/sort of my comfort zone since I feel comfortable here and know what’s expected and what to do. If I take the offer and go work for a Big Four, the work itself will be completely different from what I’ve been doing. I think I’m interested in that specialty tax because I’ve had some experience with it at my current firm but what if I realize later I actually don’t like the work?

I guess I just would like to hear some thoughts from other people. If it was you, would you take the offer? Would the name value of the Big Four be really worth it?
