Got my CPA license in July 2014, do I need CPE credits this year?

I just got my CPA license and quickly left public accounting. My job doesn’t provide anything to help with CPEs. I am licensed in PA but have no idea what my end of year requirements are or what I need to do to make sure I don’t lose my CPA license. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Check with your state board. In Georgia, cpe isn't necessary until the start of the calendar year after you pass.

I'm in the same boat but in Florida, I would contact the board to be sure if i were you, in my case, they gave me till next may to get them 80 CPE credits. or else, there will be fees and additional cpe requirements etc ,,,

My licensing board sent me a letter and said they prorate what I needed depending on the timing of my last exam. I ended up needing 60 credits before June 2015. Sounds like it works differently for every state.

Definitely varies by state. I'm in KY and was licensed in Jan 2014. In KY, CPE is due every 2 years in July – even-numbered licenses are due in even years. I'm an even-numbered licensed, so had assumed I'd have 2 years worth of CPE due 6 months after obtaining my license, and even got a letter stating such; however, I then got a follow-up letter saying I actually wouldn't have anything due till July 2016. So, in my case I got 6 months “free” due to my licensure being so close to the deadline, but definitely varies from one state to another.
