I am thinking about enrolling in a Master’s Certification program in Governmental and Non For Profit Accounting, Right now, I have a Masters in Accounting and I work in the public sector in Internal Audit. I want to get more into the finance side. Any advice on if this would be a waste of time or if it’ll help for my job search in the Fall.

Doubt it's the same everywhere, but when I used to work for state government they loved the CGFM more than anything else-including the CPA. Depending on where you're looking and what you're looking to do, you might consider the CGFM over the master's program-it's way cheaper and quicker. Then again, I would strongly advise that no one work in government in the first place, but to each their own I suppose. Good luck whichever way you go!

Don't go back for a second Masters. If the first one didn't garner a return for you, then what do you think a second one will do?

A master's and a CPA should get you wherever you want to go.

Spend the time networking and meeting the people you would want to work with. If its in Govt and NP, then consider the national non profit annual conference, CPE classes, etc. Spend the time inserting yourself into their world and getting to know people. You'll be hired because they know you and your skills that make you qualified. Otherwise you're just another anonymous resume with one more certification.
