Hi Guys,
Does anyone has an idea about the likelihood of testing of governmental and not for profit in Sims? FARE is just killing me.

Hi Guys,
Does anyone has an idea about the likelihood of testing of governmental and not for profit in Sims? FARE is just killing me.
my test is in two days and I haven't even looked at gov't yet...
after going through http://www.becker.com/accounting/cpaexamreview/students/2009%20Financial%20Released%20Questions%20with%20Answers.pdf I'm very confident in my ability to answer 80% of the mcq correct, however...there are SO man gov't questions that I didn't include in that 80% since I haven't looked at it yet.
It looks like gov't garbage is heavily tested...FAR is really bringing me down, it's just too much material and especially this gov't stuff is completely useless to me since I will never do governmental accounting
It is fair game for a simulation now.
I was under the impression that Gov't and Not-for-profit were not tested in sims; although, I can't remember where I heard this. If this is the case and the two sections make up between 16 to 24%* of the FAR exam, there would be between 14 and 21 multiple choice questions from these two sections. If Gov't and NFP are tested in the sims, then obviously, there would be less MCQs on these topics.
*16% to 24% taken from Becker's Content Specification Outline
Math:
.16 x 90 MCQ = 14.4 questions
.24 x 90 MCQ = 21.6 questions
strider4216-Definetely spend the next few days on gov't then! I had a ton of gov't & nonprofits on both my tests in Aug & Nov. I really think you should focus your last few study days on mastering gov't & nonprofits-they could be the extra little hump to get you to a passing score.
Good luck!
Jaywalk-they didn't used to be in Sims but now are a possiblity. A wonderful new piece that the AICPA has blessed FAR with in 2010! :)
I also had a fair amount of Gov/NFP questions on my FAR exam but they were a little more straight forward than the Becker practice/Final exam questions. In other words they didn't go into the insane amount of details about all the silly ways gov and NFP are required to do things.
Hi Guys,
Does anyone has an idea of any topical areas tested frequently for the SIM section of FARE?
Reg-79, BEC-78, Aud-82, FARE-66 Retake 02/16/2010
I took FAR yesterday. I had a good bit of governmental/NFP questions. I dont think I had any calculations questions on them, just pretty straigh forward questions. I wouldnt skip over studying them though because if I would have known it really well it would have been easy points.
All, combined Gov't/NFP is 16-24% of the exam whether it be in a multiple choice or simulation questions. That is approximately 1/5 of the exam. I would ensure that you study Gov't/NFP extensively. Yes, it is fair game for a simulation.
