    Hey guys and girls,

I need your help again lol

So, shortly after passing the CPA exams, audit firms are suddenly more interested in me.Even though I don’t have offers yet, I have gone to several interviews.

In your opinions, what’s the Pros and Cons of Governmental/Non Profit Audits vs For Profit Companies’ Audits?

Which are the differences and which one has better exit opportunities?

    Thanks!

You're more likely to get hired into the sector that you've been auditing, so Govt and NP would be better if you're more interested in those work environments and for-profit better if you're more interested in that. However, you could end up in either regardless of what you audit; just more likely to end up in the sector that you audit, both because your experience would be more relevant and because you're more likely to have connections.

I agree with Lilla. I did just under 3 years at an audit firm specializing in NPO and GOV. I've been at an NPO since leaving (for the last almost 7 years). The benefits of NPO and GOV work is generally the good work/life balance and usually good benefits, pay is generally lower.

Private industry you will likely make more money, work more hours and have less benefits. But you might make A LOT more money…

I think once you go GOV or NPO it is hard to break out and go for profit. That was my experience…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
