    Hello everyone,

I had a in office Big 4 campus recruiting interview on 8/21/2014 where I was interviewed by 3 individuals. From your experience, when do you think I can expect to hear back from them?

    Thanks in advance

I am using Becker self study, ninja blitz and Wiley (I am using the paperback version of the testbank)

    Brief overview of study method:
    1. Skim through chapter quickly
    2. Watch lecture videos
    3. Take a lot of notes on what the lecturers emphasize
    4. Complete half HW after lectures half after rewriting notes

@CPANOVICE: from my experience, after the 1st round interview, you may have to wait about 1 week.

but it looks like you have 2nd round interview, since my 1st round interview was with one manager. I had interview with 3 individuals in my 2nd round interview. if it's the 2nd round, I guess you should hear back from them within 2-3 days if they want you.

@ CPANB Thanks for your response. It was a second round interview. It has been 3 days not including weekends since my interview. I had my interview on 8/21/2014. Do you think that's a bad sign?

@CPANOVICE: Hey, I'm actually not a right person to tell you if it is a bad sign or not, since last year, I had 2nd round interview with 2 of the big 4 and I ended up not getting offers from any firms. I know some of my friends, they got the call from interviewers within the day of interview that they got the positions. However, one of my friends, he didn't accept right away and asked employers a few days to consider another position in another firm. This is what I heard, when someone drop out, they will call the next person in line (I'm not sure if this is true or not). So what I can say is just wait and see?

I think most people hear back the day of or the next day for final interviews. For the offers I've received through on campus recruiting, I always got a call within 24 hours. If I didn't get the offer, I would get an email several days later. I do know a few people who did get an offer a few days later though, so you never know! Good luck!

I interviewed with 3 people for big 4 in Seattle on a Friday, and got my offer that next Thursday. This was back in May/June.

It will totally depend on the recruiter's schedule, and the schedule of any more candidates. Sometimes, one random candidate who was out of town holds it all up for everyone else. In general, less than a week is the rule.

    CPA novice:

Is this off cycle recruiting, or was it a big visit with lots of people interviewing together?

With larger visits, or the “formal” hiring season, offers are usually given on a rolling basis… at least with the larger offices which can afford to go over a few spots if they believe the talent is out there, whereas a smaller office may have one or two visits and evaluate all candidates together.

With a small visit, or the “informal” or “off season” recruiting, it's anyone's guess. They may have been expecting some heavy turnover, and start recruiting experienced candidates… or just be trying to keep their pipeline open… or only be hiring one candidate (in which case they will make an offer “down the list”).

So, it really depends. These are generalizations, so hard to know for sure. I worked in a large office, so my experience may be different than others as well.

In other words, when can you expect to kiss your life goodbye? Sooner than you will soon prefer. Best of luck anyhow!

I would ask around and find out if any of your peers who interviewed that same day as you have received offers yet. The bigger firms will usually call people in the same interview group on the same day to let them know if an offer has been extended.

CALL CALL CALL! It shows you want it bad. It wouldn't be tacky either in light of the fact it's been six days and not like, say 3. They want proactive, self starting go getters to rely on and this is one way to show that. It could be down to you and another person…this call could change your life.

I speak from personal experience. I hadn't heard from an interview with a Big 4 in 10 days…I was beating myself up and then I just said “f**K it. I am going to call them and let them know that I want the job bad, feel I am qualified for the position based on their published value framework and am dying to know.” I had an offer letter the next week…seriously, true story.

@fuxyfro I interviewed with a lot of people. Some were interviewing for a full time position while others were interviewing for an internship position.

@ssmagnus I will definitely email the recruiter if I do not hear anything from them by Monday. Is that a good idea, or is that too late?

Thanks everyone else for your responses. I really appreciate them. I will keep you guys updated on the outcome.

@CPANOVICE. I'm a fan of the computer/digital/information age but nothing sets you apart like a phone call. Practice what you are going to say or the points you want to make before you call – write them down so you get your questions answered in case you get a live person on the other line. Worst case, you leave a voicemail with a good number to contact you. I would then send a brief email saying that you left a voicemail and are eager to hear where you are in the process, you are excited of the thought of being on their team because…fill in the blank. You got nothing to lose and all to gain.

I think Monday is way too far off. I would call and email tomorrow. You may roll into the weekend with a victory lap. I'm telling you – if you made it to the second round, you definitely want to be on their minds in whichever way you can. They are not going to decide against you because you were proactive and curious – they were in your spot too!

If you land a spot with them, the only way to move up the ladder is to go and grab it.
