I agree. I have always taken handwritten notes and I breezed through college with little effort. I wish it was the magic thing that helped me retain all this CPA exam info!

Almost always from my phone... please excuse my typos!

I started this journey highlighting and realized that I wasn't retaining any information. Then some website suggested I take notes. Working well so far.

I used to re-write notes and flashcards while watching TV when I needed a study break but couldn't justify a study break. Even though I was usually only halfway paying attention to what I was doing, I was surprised at how well I retained the info.

I learned that rewriting notes does help to retain the information. It's just like learning spelling words, write them 10 times each ok 20 times each. spelling test review, I could spell those words without looking. The whole point is to be able to retain the information. Now there is spell check, so who need to know how to spell.

I pretty much rewrite the Becker books, and then reconcile that with my Ninja notes. I'm pretty sure I'll have permanent hand/finger damage once these exams are over. Almost there!

I wonder if people who do 4 million MCQ and fail the actual exam are studying by hilighting or handwriting.

Taking notes by turning them into questions is the ultimate learning tool. The problem is that it takes too long. I have about 100 flash cards per chapter.

I have always been a note-taker. Even people with Ipads came to the lecture hall with stylus so they can take their notes.

I am a firm believer in rewriting the ninja notes. See my jump in scores on REG? The only thing I did differently was rewriting the ninja notes 4 times.

This is why I recently bought an iPad Pro. I use it as my main notebook and utilize the split screen ability to do quiz or watch lecture and write on my One note side by side.

Not only this reduce weight on my back.. I can actually search through my hand writing on OneNote!

iPad pro and apple pencil is quite an investment but I think was my best investment in 2015..

For REG and BEC, I bought a $50 Bisk book from Barnes and Noble. Then re-wrote almost the entire book into MS Notepad. Much cheaper than Becker, but my fingers fell off. At least I passed.

    It's finally freaking over.
